Welcome
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are likely to be deleted. Follow the links below to learn more:
- To find out more about creating articles, read the Introduction and the Guide to creating your first article.
- You should not write articles about yourself, your band, your church, your client or your best friend - that's a conflict of interest.
- Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Before writing about your own business, read Business' FAQ.

A word on "notability"
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia!
Wikipeida generally takes the stance that articles must be "notable" (see WP:N. This was a mistake that I made early on in my involvement--I wanted to enter articles about what was around me that I knew the most about. What I found is that there are plenty of noteworthy articles around me, but my best friend isn't one of them.
On chruches notability, there are many notable churches such as Willow Creek Community Church because of its size. Other churches could obtain notability based on a historical event taking place there, being a noteworthy landmark, or other such incident.
Please don't take it personal if someone proposes an article for deletion that you have worked on. We're working here to make an encyclopedia! If there is a good reason to include an article, we want to do so.
