conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Sowtpodcast. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Sowt, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   10:36, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Sowt, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 12:26, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:11, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I did not know that having an account representative of a business was not allowed. I was attempting to ensure that all conflicts of interest were declared. I understand that I have been accused of producing a promotional page but I do not believe that is the case. This page was intended to document one of the first and only Arabic-language podcasts networks in the Arab World not to promote the material of my employer. I wish to appeal not only my blocking as a user but also the deletion of this page. I would greatly appreciate any guidance in my attempt to document the history and existence of this network. I used the page of TLV1 as a template but perhaps I have not sourced inspiration from it accurately. My apologies for this.

Decline reason:

The username issue is now resolved. However, you seem to misunderstand the purpose of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for people or organizations to tell the world about themselves. Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources state about organizations that meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia has no interest in what an organization wants to say about itself. If you just want to tell the world about your organization and what it considers to be its history, you will not be unblocked and should consider alternative forums. If you want to be a general, individual Wikipedia contributor, please agree to not edit about your organization, review and comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID, and tell what you will edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 16:38, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Ok thanks, I will not continue to attempt to get this page published. I just have a question as there are several pages with seemingly promotional content, is the issue that a member of the staff of Sowt attempted to produce this article? Or that the content of the article itself is promotional?

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only; this is not an unblock request. Please don't use the unblock template to ask questions. Yamla (talk) 10:02, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

WP:OTHERSTUFF would seem to be relevant to you. The deleted article definitely violated WP:COI but would have been inappropriate had someone else submitted it. It has problems with WP:NOTE, WP:RS, and WP:PROMO. Fundamentally, given that the most popular show only gets 10,000 to 50,000 listeners per episode, I think this is just WP:TOOSOON. It may be appropriate to have an article at some point in the future, but at the moment, the article is primarily for promotion rather than an encyclopedia article about a notable network. --Yamla (talk) 10:02, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
