A quick request (or three)

[edit]

Hi, this is going to be a quick comment, a request even. But please know that I respect each editor because of the time they spend improving Wikipedia, and I gladly thank you for our joint effort. My first request is to use the 'minor edit' checkbox more conservatively. In my opinion, this edit and this edit are not minor. And I feel that I am backed up by Help:Minor edit. My second request is to make better use of the edit summary (see also Help:Edit summary). The mentioned edits could have used an explanatory message, but this edit in particular. It is clearly stated here Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#Contesting a proposed deletion, that when removing a {{prod}}, it should be indicated in the edit summary. Furthermore, that policy prescribes that an explanation needs to be given for removal of the {{prod}}. Which brings me to my third request: could you please state why you think this article should be kept? Preferably on the article's talk page. And finally, I hope I did not offend you, but provided you with usable feedback. -- Pepve 19:11, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. Duly noted re: minor edits and comments. I'll try to watch it next time. The reason I've decided to keep this article is that it's a part of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Law_Enforcement. The city of Barrie is one of the bigger and older cities in Canada and definitely deserves a page on its police service given its history. Hope this answers your question. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:HamiltonPoliceOntarioLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HamiltonPoliceOntarioLogo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:02, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:HamiltonPoliceOntarioLogo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HamiltonPoliceOntarioLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
