Hi,
Sorry this is a joke right? Not enough reliable sources? The official news agency of several countries and the official website of the Gulf Cooperation Council? I have seen smaller wikipedia pages get approved and are online with much less sources. I am pretty sure if this was a "Western" organization like the European Union or NATO it would be considered fine and could be duly edited. The guy is all over the news and even has an Arabic page.
Please reconsider since this is clearly a double standard and this person and the sources are reputable especially given the small size of the page. 37.39.175.136 (talk) 09:56, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sshamm01, I am not from any Western countries, nor do I have any relation or bias towards them. The sources cited are found to be unreliable, with no in-depth coverage. Please cite more independent, reliable sources with in-depth coverage of the subject, and then resubmit the draft. Grabup (talk) 15:05, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First, thanks for answering and taking the time to respond.
But sorry. What does that even mean? I cannot seem to get a consistent answer, nor can anyone explain why / how an article from a reputable news site is considered unreliable when posting this kind of content? How is the website of the GCC considered unreliable? It is a well established organization that even has its own GCC page. This page isn't meant to be groundbreaking but aggregate some information about the SG on Wikipedia. He has an Arabic page.
What does independent have to do with basic facts--he is the SG I am not using the GCC website to make conjectures about him it is to list basic facts literally his CV.
What would you suggest I find to replace that -- the sources in English are not wide? Do you need a EU website? Since it seems EU officials can use the EU website as a source but not an Arab one?
The official Kuwait embassy page explaining his post? How is that unreliable?
How is it not in-depth? Do you need a biography of the person in print form? I see many other wikipedia articles with far less information making it through.
If you say it is unreliable -- which I completely disagree, could you please provide an example of a "reliable" source when it comes to this information please.
Thank you again. Sshamm01 (talk) 15:27, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sshamm01, Read WP:RS, these sources which you are talking about are primary sources. But to establish notability we need in-depth covarage from multiple independent secondary sources which are not connected with the subject. Read WP:GNG, primary sources can be used but it does not establish notability at all. Grabup (talk) 16:13, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
