Speedy deletion of Steven Shaman[edit]

A tag has been placed on Steven Shaman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. blurredpeace 21:24, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

April 2009[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Steven Shaman. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Additionally, you may also want to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Whip it! Now whip it good! 21:45, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Steven Shaman. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Maen. K. A. (talk) 21:58, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi (not boilerplate)[edit]

I'd like to make a remark or two that might be helpful to you.

First, we generally do not allow people to have user names that are the same as the name of a real person unless they actually are that person. Hopefully you will see that this policy protects both you and us. Please email the Wikimedia Foundation at info-en-q@wikimedia.org with proof of your identity. Your information will be handled confidentially by someone from a carefully screened group of volunteers, who can post a note here confirming your identity--without publicly reproducing any of your personal information, of course.

Second, the conflict of interest guidelines do not prohibit you from creating and editing an article about yourself, but they advise against it, because people with conflicts can sometimes get too wrapped up in the article leading to various behaviors that the community frowns upon, like edit warring. (It is not true that you are prevented from working on the article; this is a misconception that a few people have.) It helps to take some time to become familiar with editing conventions. Be polite, most people will be polite back. And use the info-en-q address if you have problems that you can't resolve yourself. Good luck. Thatcher 00:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

I just wanted to let you know two things (okay maybe three). Welcome to Wikipedia! Its always cool to get more users involved around here. I just wanted to let you know that there is currently a discussion about you here. Sorry that you weren't notified of this sooner; it is in the instructions at the top of the page that says to notify any user if they're being discussed, and you weren't notified (till now). My apologies for that.

Additionally, it seems that the article you created was nominated for deletion on the grounds that the subject (you) don't meet the requirements for having an article on Wikipedia (see WP:BIO for the requirements for inclusion of biographies). I personally haven't read the article nor researched much about you yet, but if you'd like me to try and help you save the article, let me know. If it is clear that you don't meet the requirements for inclusion, there's not much I can do, but like I said, I haven't looked into it yet so I don't know if you do or not.

If you have any questions or anything feel free to post here or on my talk page. I'll keep an eye on this page, to watch for any response. I'm sorry you've had to deal with so much in such a short time of being a Wikipedian. I'd like to try and help you along with everything. Killiondude (talk) 07:10, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Steven Shaman being considered for deletion.[edit]

Deletion of an article you created, Steven Shaman, is being discussed. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steven Shaman. You can contribute to that discussion, if you like. --John Nagle (talk) 17:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-posting[edit]

I'm going to paste my response to your comment on my talk page here as well (to try to ensure you get it).

Well the basic requirement to have an article is this: you must be the subject of several third party publications that discuss you. The publications have to be reliable sources (therefore the majority of blogs can't be used, as anyone can post a blog containing misinformation). I just did a Google search on you (I searched ""Steve Shaman" -wikipedia") and I couldn't find anything that could help you meet that requirement for an article. I did find a lot of blogs and stuff, but like I said, those can't be used. I'm sorry to say that your article will probably be deleted in a few days time. It could be recreated in the future if more information about you is published, however. Killiondude (talk) 20:59, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
