User talk:SummitSportsGroup
April 2012
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (SummitSportsGroup) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.
There are two issues with this:
- It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
- Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.
Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Calabe1992 05:43, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Wikipedia is very resistant to being used for advertising or promotion of any kind. As a sports agent, you have from our point of view a severe WP:Conflict of interest in editing about anything to do with your clients, and should carefully read that guideline and also WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. In brief, if you set up an individual account:
- don't post articles about your clients directly, use WP:Articles for creation (as you did),
- suggest any but absolutely uncontroversial changes on the article talk page, declaring your interest,
- understand the WP:Verifiability policy and the guidelines on WP:Notability, WP:Notability (people) and WP:NSPORTS,
- be careful to avid promotional language or "puffery" - just plain facts, neutrally stated and backed by reliable sources.
The best way to avoid problems will be to state on your new user page that you represent Summit Sports Group and that in editing about the Group's clients you understand and will abide by the guidelines WP:COI and WP:BESTCOI.
