Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring and sockpuppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Lastly, if you are editing an article about an individual or group of people, please adhere to Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons' policy.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Copyright problem: Cretan diet
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Cretan diet, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.cretan-nutrition.gr/wp/?page_id=84&lang=en, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under allowance license, then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author to release the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA), leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Cretan diet and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". Make sure you quote the exact page name, Cretan diet, in your email. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted "under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA), version 3.0, or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Cretan diet with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License and GNU Free Documentation License, and note that you have done so on Talk:Cretan diet. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions.
It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Cretan diet saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Constantine ✍ 09:40, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hello! The problem with your article is that it is a verbatim copy of the above-mentioned website. Now, if that material is released under a free license, then there is no problem. However I could find no copyright notice in the website. If there is one which allows such a use of its material, please point it out and I will remove the notice. Either way however, it is against Wikipedia rules to edit articles on subjects where one is closely related (WP:COI), especially if these are of a promotional nature. In your case, there is no problem with writing an article on the Cretan diet (which is per se a neutral, encyclopedic subject), but it is not OK to give clearly promotional links of a company, association etc. such as the "Cretan Quality Agreement" page. If you want such an article on Wikipedia, it would be better if you would rewrite the page, preferably from scratch, so that it reads less like a verbatim copy-paste job and more like an encyclopedic article. Please be mindful that Wikipedia is not just a depository of information, but aspires to be a genuine, bona fide encyclopedia. Sections such as "Scheduled meals and snacks" or "Meals as a pleasant experience" have their place in a website promoting healthy eating, but not in an encyclopedic article, which should be characterised by neutral point of view, no original research, and meet criteria for verifiability. Best regards, Constantine ✍ 14:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Hello again! As I can see, the content is released for free use, and although attribution is required, there are no problems there. However, the second problem remains the same, i.e. the article is written in a clearly promotional tone, and, as it stands, serves as little more than an advertisement for a promotional website (hence we have a conflict of interest case). Furthermore, copy-pasting entire texts onto WP is strongly discouraged. I strongly recommend that you edit the article to address these concerns. You are always free to add your own material, but please bear in mind the above-mentioned policies when doing so. I will try to do some editing myself, but the subject is not within my field of knowledge. Best regards, Constantine ✍ 13:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Minoan civilization do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Constantine ✍ 20:41, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Lupin poisoning. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Constantine ✍ 20:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Elyros, you may be blocked from editing. You have been repeatedly warned that adding irrelevant links of a promotional nature is against Wikipedia's guidelines. If you continue, you will be blocked. Constantine ✍ 12:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
το Greek cuisine.
