Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Thank you for your message. I appreciate that you understand the importance of reliable sources to Wikipedia. Having said that, the Irish Times is certainly a reliable source, and within five minutes I have turned up other sources that confirm the information that you removed. I recognize that it is easier to remove than to improve in some cases - in the case of an encyclopedia, I certainly feel adding sources to affirm the contents of an article is a better route to take. I encourage you to research the information that you removed and add sources to back it up, if you feel that it is improperly sourced. Tony Fox (arf!) 22:10, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Tony Fox: The article's information was properly sourced, and contained good material. You did engage in an edit war with a rollbacker, who deals with vandals (like you, in this case), and an administrator, Tony Fox. Please remember that edit wars can easily result in an indefinite block, and are highly frowned upon. Before doing so again, please discuss it on the talk page. Thanks, Adotchar| reply here 22:19, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, I've checked all of the material that you removed and it is all support either by the reference you removed or the othere sources in teh preceding sentence. Fropping a warnign about blocking on my page for this is way out of line. Meters (talk) 22:20, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gently, guys, this is a new editor, and I'm sure they're editing in good faith.

Tania, I have found the following affirming the material in the disputed passage. The Dictionary of African Biography, from the Oxford Press, certainly seems very appropriate and states that he was born to parents of Lebanese Catholic origin. Al Jazeera also affirms the Melkite link. These two sources are absolutely enough to confirm the information in question. I encourage you and other editors to add these to the article, and will crosspost to the talk page. Tony Fox (arf!) 22:30, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't undo my move of the reference again. Wikipedia puts references after punctuation, not in the middle of a sentence, unless there is something particularly contentious about the material. I moved the reference to where it should be. See WP:CITEFOOT. Meters (talk) 22:34, 1 December 2016 (UTC)}}[reply]

Also, Tania, I know that anti-vandalism is very helpful, but it's not helpful to say to a rollbacker:

Hello, Please keep in mind that adding information without reliable sources is against the policy of Wikipedia. Any member who adds any information without adding a reliable source will be banned from editing. Thanks! --Tania Jarallah (talk) 5:08 pm, Yesterday (UTC−5)

I know that you disagree with his statement, but you removed information that was perfectly reasonable, multiple editors intervened, and you were stuck in the middle of it. Sorry about this, as you are new, though I would ask you to, before you continue working on anti-vandalism, go through the academy for the CVU.
