Promoting own work

[edit]

Hi! I don't think Wikipedia is the place to promote your own book. There are other websites for that. Richard 09:33, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, I've undone all your edits related to that. Graham87 16:15, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And three years later, here you are promoting your own work again. I've therefore indefinitely blocked you. Graham87 08:42, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Graham, I am sorry that you view my edits as a promotion of my work. I was told by my marketing adviser that it would be good for me to add information to existing articles and document myself as the source of that info. Apparently, this was not good advice. But if I have additional information about a topic that is covered in an article, how can I contribute that without getting in trouble with you?

Sincerely,

Terry MarzellTerry Lee Marzell (talk) 15:43, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I just got this message. Nope, it wasn't good advice at all. If you have something to add, it'd be far better to cite the original source where you got it from, rather than your own books ... not just because they're your work, but also because, as far as I can tell, they're tertiary sources and Wikipedia prefers secondary sources. If you're willing to do this, I'd be willing to unblock you. Graham87 07:20, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I appreciate your patience and understanding!Terry Lee Marzell (talk) 16:36, 11 April 2018 (UTC)Terry Marzell[reply]

No worries, but are you happy with the course of action I've outlined above? If so, I'll unblock you. Graham87 04:31, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, indeed. I read the sections describing the difference between tertiary and secondary sources, and I understand. Thank you. Terry MarzellTerry Lee Marzell (talk) 22:44, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, sounds good. I've unblocked you. Happy editing! Graham87 10:40, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
