Newspapers and place of publication[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Worldbruce. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Liverpool Echo, that was reverted. Information in Wikipedia must be verifiable, so it's essential that you provide a reliable source for any change. If you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial.

Note, however, that "place of publication" in the newspaper world may not mean what you would expect. It does not mean where the publisher's offices or printing plant are located, but where the newspaper is principally sold (which in the case of the Liverpool Echo, probably isn't Oldham). That's the common usage of the term in the context of newspapers, and has been borne out in a number of court cases that have arisen as cost cutting and ease of communication have driven physical plant outside of the city served. The paper's activities in Oldham may still be of interest in the article, but not as place of publication. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:08, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
