No personal attacks
[edit]Please read WP:NPA. FilthyDon has put an enormous amount of time into maintaining the article and shock horror outrage he missed one. So if you see an error, just correct it and move on: you don't need to leave a sarky comment. Maybe you could do something useful like updating Milton Keynes Dons#2018–present: Bounce-back and search for stability which is way overdue an update. - I'm not clearing up their mess again, this one incident is the tip of the iceberg, its a mess because FD has been allowed to make it a mess. Without any comeback.
- No personal attacks? What like you've just done to me?
- The edits this person is/has been making are half the time going unchecked it's people like me who are stuck correcting them. It's not on and needs to be addressed. TheDon79 (talk) 13:20, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- First, if what I intended as constructive advice came across as an attack, I can only apologise for not being a diplomat. That was certainly not my intent.
- Looking at the history of the article, the last time you did a big block of corrections was February so it doesn't look like you've been on the case every other day. Wikipedia is a volunteer project and you should WP:assume good faith: the way to address it is to work co-operatively, to share the work. Verifying that updates have been done correctly is a very valuable – indeed essential – contribution (see WP:HOAX). Of course not everyone is willing to donate hour upon hour of their time, so I can understand that maybe you really don't want to check every update every day. The really time consuming part of being a Wikipedia editor is tracking down reliable sources and solid information.
- I suspect that is likely that I am defending FD because I'm another editor who likes to get on with the work and I am the first to admit that I fall down on details. Some other editors I know would totally agree with you. But again, please assume that we are not being deliberately careless. Unless you can show wp:vandalism and or such a high level of error as to constitute wp:disruptive editing (with malice aforethought, like we get every now and then from AFC), then you won't get an editor blocked. We have to work out how best to work together to get at least the most important elements of the article right.
- I hope this makes it clearer. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:18, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
