I forgot to add it, the source comes from ESPN.com Thesaurus33 (talk) 23:56, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

April 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Hey man im josh. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Stephen Gilmore, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:26, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ESPN is a reliable source, I don't understand how it isn't viewed that way. Not to mention that the story of Stephon Gilmore signing with the Colts has been reported on other sites as well. Thesaurus33 (talk) 22:51, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
All of those websites cite anonymous reports and none of them are official sources of any kind. It's standard practice wait for official confirmation. This can be the player themselves, but is usually done by the team. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:19, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. Thank you. Thesaurus33 (talk) 19:42, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll wait till the details come out with the contract figures, but the number choice will most likely be the number he'll wear as he's chosen it personally when he was in Carolina, that number isn't currently worn by anyone and is not retired by the team. Thesaurus33 (talk) 16:25, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not keep changing tenses from former to retired, like you did at Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. You may be blocked from editing if you continue this disruptive behavior. 2001:569:7F96:EE00:C130:FB31:A294:F1FF (talk) 19:52, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thesaurus33, this has been brought up at WP:ANI#User:Thesaurus33, in case you want to comment there. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:16, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How exactly is that disruptive? The tense isn't inaccurate in any way and has been utilized with other players. I can certainly understand if that were the case I would most certainly understand entirely. Thesaurus33 (talk) 23:29, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the articles of other retired athletes, they all say former instead of retired. 2001:569:7F96:EE00:C130:FB31:A294:F1FF (talk) 00:02, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see a lot of them yes, it's fine I mean no offense. I'm just trying to do the best editing I can and I'm also learning. Thesaurus33 (talk) 00:13, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Overreacting much? Although I personally agree with the IP in preferring "former" over "retired", the only thing you really did wrong was continue to make the same edits after they were reverted. A lot of experienced editors made that same mistake when they first started editing (and some of us still do lol). WP:BRD might be a useful read. – 2.O.Boxing 04:21, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

December 2022[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Justin Verlander. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:17, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How exactly is the edit disruptive? Thesaurus33 (talk) 16:18, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because we cannot say that Verlander was on the Mets active roster in 2023 as it isn't the 2023 season yet. That note is there for a reason. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:20, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The contract signed ensures Verlander will appear at least in 2023. Just because he hasn't officially played a game does not mean he isn't on the roster. Other free agent signees have been properly noted. Thesaurus33 (talk) 16:22, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The New York Mets official page at MLB.com shows Verlander on the roster and with the official start of baseball season in April of 2023 it would logically and accurately mean that the players tenure starts with the new season. Which technically begins now with the winter meetings and signing and trades. Thesaurus33 (talk) 16:32, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The contract does not ensure that because he could get injured. That's why the infobox doesn't list his 2021 season: he didn't appear. The new season starts on March 30, 2023. This is the 2022-23 offseason. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:39, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter, injured or not he's still on the roster. The clarification is just that he didn't play the season but he was still on the roster. Thesaurus33 (talk) 23:24, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
