Dear [Ncmvicalist]:
It is important to have Dalit history as a category of Constitution of India because a maker of the Constitution was Dalit, Dr. Ambedkar. Dalit history is invisibilized because this connection is not known widely due to bias in Savarna culture and scholarship. He wrote the Constitution to guarantee rights of Dalit and marginalized people and legitimize their citizenship. Because Dalit people are still categorically marginalized, Dalit history as a category is essential and constructive. "Dalit history" is also expressly a category identified by grassroots organizers working to make accountable caste-based sexual violence in India, because they know that reclaiming "Dalit history" is essential for self determination of Dalit peoples and the respect in Savarna circles essential to humanize a people who have long been dehumanized. I plan to re-add "Dalit history" as a category. To this day, heinous caste-based atrocities are being committed and received with impunity from the Indian state. We are scholars and activists trying to gain attention to marginalized communities including Dalit peoples by correcting statements that may be incorrect, misrepresented, derogatory. We appreciate your support in the spirit of wikipedia mission giving voice to the people.
Welcome
