Eurogentec[edit]

Hi ToYKillAS! Thank you for creating the article Eurogentec. The article broke quite a few of the Wikipedia policies, so I'm afraid I've had to cut its size drastically. You should be able to find all the relevant policies from the welcome links above, but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask them here, as I will be watching this page. All the best. Eurogentec private email[edit]

Thanks for your email about the Eurogentec page. The biggest reason for me removing the content was because it was not backed up by reliable sources. See WP:V and WP:RS for the Wikipedia policies. The reason for the reference that I added is that it proves notability for the company, and will prevent it being deleted from Wikipedia altogether (as happened in the past). I realise it is old, of course - we need more reliable third-party sources that discuss the company so that we can make the article more up-to-date. Press releases and other first-party sources are generally frowned upon, because they are inherently less reliable than third-party sources; however they can be used to verify uncontroversial claims. The history information looked good, but really it needs a source. I'd say this section could be referenced using the Eurogentec website as it looked like fairly normal, uncontroversial information. You should be careful to maintain a neutral point of view, as well - the previous version looked like advertising to me. See WP:NPOV for the policy. Finally, from your email it appears that you may be employed by Eurogentec. If this is the case, then you have a conflict of interest, and should probably avoid editing the article directly. Instead, you can put your suggested edits on the talk page, and wait for another editor to approve them. I'll leave more info on this below. Hope this has been helpful. p.s. for good examples to copy you could look at the articles on Microsoft and BAE Systems, which are featured articles on Wikipedia. Mr. Stradivarius 12:23, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, about the logo: before you use it, you must update the copyright status of the image at Wikimedia Commons to an acceptable license; if not, the image will be deleted from there on the 9th May. (The Commons page can be found here.) If Eurogentec doesn't want to release it under a compatible license, then it may still be eligible for inclusion under "fair use" grounds. See WP:NFC for more details. All the best. Mr. Stradivarius 12:50, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

May 2011[edit]

Hello ToYKillAS. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Eurogentec, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Mr. Stradivarius 12:20, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
