Proposed deletion of Ian Jones (television executive)

Rhodri Talfan Davies article & photo

Hello, I am wondering about your photo of Rhodri Talfan Davies. Can you confirm that it is your own work, as in that you yourself personally took that photo and have the rights to it? It seems to be the same as the image on the BBC website, which would make it a copyright violation which has to be deleted.

If you work for the BBC and can confirm you have the right to give that image to Wikimedia, that would be fine too, but you'd need to contact Wikimedia and explain the situation. (I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the procedure myself.) You can also upload copyrighted images to Wikipedia (but not Wikimedia) as fair use under certain conditions, but you have to name the source. This could be justifiable as Mr. Davies is apparently a notable figure and there are no free photos of him that I can find on Flickr.

With the article, I think Mr Davies certainly looks notable enough to get an article on Wikipedia, but you'll probably want to add third-party, non-BBC sources discussing his work as evidence of this. Interviews, discussion of his management approach in the media, any public lectures, that kind of thing. Blythwood (talk) 06:36, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
