I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. A tag has been placed on Barnstars and other awards requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Jarkeld (talk) 00:07, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

That's fine. It didn't really have any content anyway. I'll recreate it when I actually get a barnstar or some other type of award. --Michaelkourlas (talk) 00:24, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
That kind of page would be better at: User:Michaelkourlas/barnstars. It does not belong in the main article space. Jarkeld (talk) 00:41, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't realize it was in the main article space. I thought it was in my userspace. Sorry.--Michaelkourlas (talk) 00:42, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Please review another editor

As you have recently requested to be reviewed at Editor review, please consider reviewing another editor to help alleviate the backlog. Thanks. Netalarmtalk 00:03, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted you rollback. The key here is not to use it to revert edits that are not vandalism. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. Best, — Jake Wartenberg 05:34, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Userpage vandalism

Hi, someone you previously warned about an unconstructive edit has vandalized your userpage and I've reverted it. Jarkeld (talk) 01:39, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Question

{{help-me}} Is is OK to use a non free image (a book cover) to work on an article I'm currently working on in my sandbox? Eventually, it will be placed in the mainspace, but for now the only place the image will be used will be in my userspace. --Michaelkourlas (talk) 21:20, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

No... I think there's a bot that would replace it with a warning image. It's best to just wait till the article is moved to the mainspace before you add it. Killiondude (talk) 21:29, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Apology

Dear Vanished user aoiowaiuyr894isdik43, I apologise for deceiving you.
le quotidien (talk · contribs) was me posing as a newbie as part of the wp:NEWT experiment. Analysis of this particular test is at Wikipedia:Newbie treatment at CSD/Circeus and your input would be most welcome. I actually would likely have had the same reaction as you if evaluating the article on its face, though I still think a cursory Google check is always a good idea. Circéus (talk) 22:07, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Talkback

Failed GA nomination. Please see notes. I really think it could go up for renomination. MWOAP (talk) 02:55, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

merry x-mas!

IP Block Exemption Request

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. I will remove the exemption one month from today, on 18 January 2010, or you can drop me a note when you get home. If it is near 18 January and you still need the exemption, let me know. Cheers!

Request handled by: J.delanoygabsadds 18:39, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

I just noticed you have a bot. Do you need an exemption for it as well? J.delanoygabsadds 18:40, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, good point. Should I file another request? --Michael Kourlastalkcontribs 19:02, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, if you want to you can :-) [1] J.delanoygabsadds 19:08, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Windows XP Activation Restriction

Greetings,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for updating Windows Product Activation article. I enjoyed reading it. However, I noted that you made mistake with Windows XP. Geographical activation restriction does apply to Windows XP. However, by the time of the introduction of the annoying restriction, Windows XP retail was nearing the end of its life. Now, its OEM version does have the restriction, and so do Vista and Seven.

Windows Vista was first sold without the restriction in emerging markets, but about the time of SP1, they includes the restriction. Because this feature is (really) poorly documented, I opt not to edit the article table since I can't give any references (people would consider this as Original research WP:OR). Once again, thanks. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 16:54, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Do you know where I can find any references for the restrictions for XP, Vista or 7?
Hi. Just give me some time (possibly 10-20 mins) to compile some. However, I have to say that some of these can't be used as reference as it comes from a shop. It just shows that there are activation restriction on these products. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 18:05, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Here they are:
Unfortunately XP has been delisted (including its OEM, but not GGK - get genuine kit), so it is no longer relevant. It says that "activation must occur in Indonesia". Unfortunately as this topic is poorly documented, there is almost no possibility of finding the refs for Windows XP. I'll notify you again if I am able to find some more refs (in English). w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 18:14, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
I found this, but don't use this and the shop links as reference: Brunei version: [6]. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 18:27, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Good article reassessment - Windows Product Activation

Windows Product Activation has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Reviewers' concerns are here. hamiltonstone (talk) 02:17, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:01-06-10slate2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — ξxplicit 18:31, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space

Hey there Michaelkourlas, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Michaelkourlas/Microsoft Product Activation.

  • See a log of files removed today here.
  • Shut off the bot here.
  • Report errors here.
  • If you have any questions, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:03, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Recovering Catholic, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!
