If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:WDRinc/Who We Are, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Singularity42 (talk) 16:16, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am a intern at this company and I did not realize that I had violated something, I would really like to have the same username but I am not using it as a promotional item at all. I will change the information and make sure they follow the guidelines, this my first time with wikipedia and made an error. thank you

Decline reason:

Firstly, you have made no attempt to address the username issue. Wikipedia's username policy is not negotiable. Secondly, your editing was unambiguously promotional, and if you sincerely can't see that then you probably lack the ability to edit in a sufficiently objective way. This is my first time working with Wikipedia and I posted something that should not have been posted. I sincerely apologize for that and request that you unblock this please. I will make sure that I don't post anything that violates wikipedia guidelines and will get 'Help' before posting something. Thank you so much.

Decline reason:

It's not rocket science. We need you to pick a user name that only refers to a single individual AND had no possible link with any company or article that the user may edit. This ensures that all users appear equal. Thus anything with WD, inc, Ward,Dreshman & Reinhardt will not be allowed.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:09, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In addition I might as well ask these questions now, because they will be added sooner or later...

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the three important principles above.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:10, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Good Morning. After returning from a convention this past weekend and asking my intern last week to start the process of putting together a Wikipedia page, it has been brought to my attention that we are indefinitely blocked from adding a page. My instructions to him prior to leaving was to start working on it and not to publish anything until I have a had a chance to review it. I understand that during the construction of the content he was contacted by Wikipedia and made aware that the content was too promotional. He responded by apologizing as this was his first time ever putting a page together and assured them that he would follow the guidelines. When he tried to go back in, he was blocked and never even got an opportunity to rectify the problem. Our firm has an incredibly rich history dating back to 1905 and we are known as the oldest fundraising consulting firm in the country. Here is a link to our history page http://www.wdrincorp.com/our-heritage. For these reasons, the President of our firm thought that a Wikipedia page would be appropriate. I am aware that Wikipedia is not meant for promoting our company and I apologize for not relaying this information more clearly to our intern. I am respectfully requesting that we are unblocked and given an opportunity to do it right. Thank you in advance for your time and your consideration. Erin A. West - Vice President of Operations

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but it's clear that this account is being shared. Please create a new account for yourself, and only you, and we can assist you in trying to establish an article about your firm. It is unlikely this account will be unblocked at this point. Kuru (talk) 15:00, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Since I have already declined one unblock request for this account I will leave this one to another administrator, so that you get an independent assessment. However, for your information, I do not expect this request to be fulfilled, for the following reasons.
  1. A Wikipedia account is for an individual person, not for use by more than one person, and not for sue to represent an organisation or business.
  2. Wikipedia seeks to record independent third party coverage, and writing an article about your own business is contrary to Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines.
  3. "Our firm has an incredibly rich history dating back to 1905 and we are known as the oldest fundraising consulting firm in the country" is promotional writing. If you can write that in a passage which tries to assure us that you do not wish to promote your business then it is unlikely that you will be able to see how your writing will look from a detached and independent point of view. This is, in fact, one of the main reasons why Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline strongly discourages anyone from editing in areas where you have a direct involvement.
