Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Wearethebrits, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Wearethebrits and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bagheera (talk) 00:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You might try putting your reasoning in the page's discussion page, rather than in the body of the hangon tag. Regardless, I flagged it as I did because the article (as written/when written) is mostly a series of unsupported statements and reads like spam. If you really want to do an article on the party, by all means write one. Just, you know, write it in the context of an encyclopedia rather than something that might be in a leaflet. Cheers. Noticed you haven't been formally welcomed.

Notability policy

[edit]

You might want to read Wikipedia's notability policy, which specifies a minimum set of criteria which must be met for an article to be kept on Wikipedia. If you want your article Wearethebrits to be kept, you will need to provide at the very least some references (preferably in the form of web links) to independent third-party coverage from multiple reliable sources that can be used to verify the existence of the party in question. -- The Anome (talk) 01:41, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have edited the article subsequent to the message above being posted, I assume that you have read it, but not added any links to references that can be used to verify it. Unless you can provide these, I will delete the article in a few minutes' time. If you can at some later time provide references that satisfy the criteria above, you are welcome to recreate the article at that time. -- The Anome (talk) 01:56, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for providing a reference. Unfortunately, it does not refer to the party that is the subject of the article, and cannot be used to support keeping the article. For example, links to coverage of the party in the mainstream media are the sort of references that might satisfy the policy. -- The Anome (talk) 02:10, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be making a lot of references to things that are intended to happen in the future. Unfortunately, we can't cover these in articles until or unless they actually happen: please see WP:CRYSTALBALL for more about this. -- The Anome (talk) 02:13, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since we haven't officially launched the partty yet and don't intend to do so until after the UK General Election it's a little difficult to provide you with the things you seem to need. This is not a positive experience my friend, either we are allowed create and update and article on the party or not.......what we do not intend to do is continually jump through hoops to satisfy people who know nothing of us ......we lead.....and we intend to remain as leaders — Preceding unsigned comment added by WeAreTheBrits (talkcontribs)

The necessary "hoops" are clearly spelled out in the notability and verifiability policies, and are non-negotiable. At the moment, according to Wikipedia's policies, the answer to your question is "not," and so I have now deleted the article. However, this is not an arbitrary policy, nor a reflection on you personally, and if you can at any later date satisfy its requirements, you are welcome to recreate the article. -- The Anome (talk) 02:23, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Civility

Regarding your comments on User talk:Clovis Sangrail: please note Wikipedia's civility policy at WP:CIVIL. -- The Anome (talk) 02:32, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated WeAreTheBrits, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WeAreTheBrits. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
