Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Weems: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! GofG ||| Contribs 03:15, 5 March 2006 (UTC) (Hehe)[reply]

thanks for the welcoming GofG, I have actually been a member for a while but this is my first time at creating a userpage and customizing it as well. weems 15:21, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help has arrived

[edit]

You wanted some help, here I am! How can I help you? You can ask your questions right here, and I will respond.--Commander Keane 17:43, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to ask you to take a look at Sambomaster and see if I created the article correctly. weems 17:40, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey weems. I noticed your question, and Commander Keane doesn't seem to be around, so here I am. If you haven't had a chance yet, WP:MUSIC is the Wikipedia guideline for notability standards for musical bands and singers. From my reading of the article and my quick overview of the guideline, Sambomaster doesn't seem to meet the notability standard. If it does and I missed it, or if it hasn't been written in, then fine. Besides the notability standard, it does seem like you created it correctly. You may want to wikilink certain phrases, like anime or Japanese. And you should probably categorize the article so that others may stumble accross it as well. If you can think of some, just place them at the bottom of the article. Pepsidrinka 23:02, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:N1005120265 30558067 1395.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 01:53, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian in Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Tarah Wheeler, 2016.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tarah Wheeler, 2016.jpg, which you've attributed to Tarah Wheeler. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 17:11, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
