Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, WestEndAgent. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Toby Francis, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 10:14, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

- Hi GMH Melbourne,
- Thank you for coming back to me so quickly.
- I was unaware I needed to disclose that Toby was a client as the message I had asked if he was "yourself, a family member, a friend, an employer, a mentor/business partner" of which he is not. As I have not stated any opinions in this article is there a reason this is a problem?
- Regarding paid contribution I will not receive any money for setting this up, I'm not sure how I can prove that to you but if you have any ideas then I'm happy to provide any evidence you need.
- You noted that the article has been rejected because Toby does not meet the criteria/notability requirements for an Actor. However, on WP:ENT you state that the person shall be considered notable if they have had "significant roles in multiple stage performances, or other productions;". Toby played lead roles in the original Australian productions of Kinky Boots, Dogfight and Carrie, with his role in Kinky Boots being the top billed role in the production. This clearly satisfies your requirements stated for notability.
- Toby's notability is further confirmed by the following pages on this website that cite him as a notable actor, please do follow the below links and search Toby's name for reference.
- Dogfight (musical)
- Kinky Boots (musical)
- Once (musical)
- Packemin Productions
- Following this, I would ask you to reconsider Toby's status as a notable actor and accept this submission.
- Thanks,
- David WestEndAgent (talk) 10:50, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Thank you for your reply. After a quick google search I can see some sources that exist and can help establish the articles notability, in particular, sources from the ABC, Sydney Morning Herald, and the Herald Sun and if added, will be very helpful. Also see WP:PROMOTION as it may contain tip on getting the article on reading more encyclopaedically and less like a resume.
- Also, as you have a financial relationship with the subject of the article and will be receiving money (albeit indirectly), you will be required to disclose this (see instruction on how to). For more info, see WP:PAY and WP:Paid-contribution disclosure
- NB: This is simply my opinion and it may be worth visiting WP:TEAHOUSE to seek more info. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 11:57, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
