License tagging for File:Manuel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Manuel.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:06, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Whistling Tractor, if you are the photographer, and you want to release the image for use on Wikipedia, please just type {{pd-self}} on the image page. You note that the picture is "Copyright Gordon Dowie", so if you are not Gordon Dowie, you need his permission to release the image on Wikipedia, using an image copyright tag as described above. Give me a shout here if you have any questions. Thanks, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 13:04, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've just been tidying up the page on which the image is used: I've removed inappropriate detail from the image caption, and note that the image still has no licensing info as described above. It might get deleted unless you sort this out. PamD (talk) 09:15, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as if in uploading your "manuel.jpg" image you have replaced an earlier file of that name which was used in the article Man Parrish! I will ask an administrator to look into this and see if we can retrieve that older image. I imagine that when you were uploading the image there was a stage where it asked if you wanted to replace an earlier image and you accidentally clicked "OK" or similar. Please be more careful in future. PamD (talk) 09:22, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An update: my friendly admin has looked into it and found that the previous image of that title had been deleted ages ago, ie the article on the musician had had a red link to a deleted image for more than a year! See User_talk:BrownHairedGirl#Admin_help_needed_re_over-written_image.2C_I_think. So you did nothing wrong on that count - though the problem of copyright attribution remain. Sorry for assuming you'd overwritten the image. PamD (talk) 18:17, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
