Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created 9 Lies, and I noticed that your username, "Ninelies", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 20:19, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the page you created has been moved to Nine Lies, the main namespace(without "Wikipedia": in it, which is a different namespace). 331dot (talk) 20:28, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 331dot (talk) Thanks for your message. What can I do to resolve the issue. I've put a lot of time an effort into compiling all the information an would be gutted if it was removed now. Can you advise please?

Thanks

I would first suggest changing your username (see instructions above) as usernames cannot be that of a group; they must indicate a single user. If you are associated with this band and are editing as part of your job, you need to clearly declare that somewhere. You will also need to review the conflict of interest policy. 331dot (talk) 21:02, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers 331dot. I can't for the life of me see anywhere to change the user name. Would this require deleting the account entirely and making a new one do you know? Thanks Ninelies (talk) 21:11, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the post above under the header "your username", there is a link to a form where you can change your username, you do not need to create a brand new one. This will transfer your edits to the new username. If you wish to reply to this post, simply click "edit" at the top of the page(the top of the section might also have such a link); doing this avoids creating a new header every time. 331dot (talk) 21:14, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Nine Lies Promo Pic from Nothing Left for Me.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nine Lies Promo Pic from Nothing Left for Me.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. XXN, 14:23, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
