Information icon Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Sleep Walk, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please review WP:SONGCOVER as well. DonIago (talk) 05:05, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doniago.
I did not make a mistake. In the line I added, there was a link to the "Strange Beautiful Music" album from Joe Satriani and anybody can see there that "Sleep Walk" is in the track listing. I know both songs, so I am certain this is a cover.
I do not usually edit Wikipedia articles. I just saw this and thought to contribute. I don't have the time to go through proper citation modes right now.
Sincerely, Wikiaristos (talk) 20:21, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Wikiaristos, as I mentioned in my initial note to you, the source you provided does not satisfy WP:SONGCOVER. Please review the information discussed there and let me know if you still have outstanding questions. Thanks! DonIago (talk) 20:33, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Doniago, I added a reference now.
Although I understand the WP:SONGCOVER restrictions, there also has to be a common-sense limit to them. I bet if Taylor Swift had covered the song, you wouldn't have required a reference. So my understanding is that you (like most people likely) just don't know who Joe Satriani is, which is extremely sad honestly, given he is arguably the best electric guitar player in the history of the instrument...
In any case, good job doing your best to maintain a high level in Wikipedia. Wikiaristos (talk) 22:46, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I would have required a source, because notability is not inherited, and while that link is referring more to articles than to content within articles, the same principle applies. If Swift's cover was important in some manner, than it's reasonably likely that some source would have discussed it in some manner, hypothetically speaking.
But, thanks for providing a source! That one works fine for me, though I can't speak for other editors. DonIago (talk) 01:51, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
