Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Wikicreator13. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GSS💬 16:53, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

November 2020

Information icon

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Wikicreator13, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Wikicreator13|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. GSS💬 04:13, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I am not getting paid to edit or post any pages, I simply have a love for Australian music, specifically electronic music and I like to keep Australian pages updated to the best as possible, I believe the COI is unnecessary but I respect you for doing what you think is right and taking action, looking forward to hearing back from you and hopefully we can sort this out. @GSS:,. I also previously replied in November but forgot to sign it so you would not have seen the first message. Sorry about that. @GSS:, (Wikicreator13 (talk) 13:44, 11 January 2021 (UTC)).[reply]

Request reason:

Hey, I do not believe the block was fair at all, I appreciate you doing your job and taking action but this is all wrong. I have a high interest in Australian musicians and all things Australia if im honest. I never intended anything to be promotional at all, all I was trying to do was updated, edit and post sources about Australian musicians, Australian electronic musicians to be specific. I have been using Wikipedia for sometime now, mostly all of 2020 and it was really upsetting hopping onto Wikipedia last month and finding out I have been banned for something that has been blown out of proportion. I would formally like to ask to please be unblocked from editing, I replied about the previous "COF" but never get a reply. Please and thank you! Decline reason:

I find the request unconvincing, so I'm going to close your request so you can make a new request for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 10:11, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hey, I was recently blocked in early December, I do not believe the block was fair at all. I post and edit about local Australian artists and that's all I have done since I first created my Wikipedia account (as you can see if you check my Wikipedia history), I don't understand why my account was banned when all I have done is actively engage in the online Wikipedia community and done my best to keep Australian artists pages up to date with releases and other important information. I respect the decision to place the ban but I highly oppose it as the only thing this ban is hurting is the Australian Wikipedia community. I replied to my previous 'COF' but never seen a reply ever since, I don't think that is fair to ban someone over an issue that was not resolved, there is no proof of me using Wikipedia for "spam or advertising purposes" and I think anyone that checks out my Wikipedia history they will see that themselves. I hope you can see the reasoning behind my appeal and I hope you can see from my point of view, it was very upsetting waking up to check my notifications and find out that I was banned indefinitely. I never intended anything to be promotional at all, all I was trying to do was update, edit, and post sources about Australian musicians and other topics related to Australia. As to this block, I have made myself very common with all rules of Wikipedia again and I will make sure I will make a good impact in the Wikipedia community if granted a second chance as the only reason I am on here is to help out. I understand the reason for the blocking and I will make sure I do my best to not actively engage and not look like I'm using Wikipedia for spam or advertising purposes. Thank you for your time. Decline reason:

I don't find this convincing, I just went through your contributions and I came to the same conclusion as the blocking admin. I also looked at two of the drafts that you moved to mainspace and that's a bit odd for someone who doesn't normally do AfC work, especially since the drafts were contributions from paid editors. You'll need to disclose your connection to those accounts too, clearly nothing related to Australian music on that front. —SpacemanSpiff 13:34, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
