Your request for undeletion[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that a response has been made at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion regarding a submission you made. The thread is Mohammad Sharif Chattar. JohnCD (talk) 11:10, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Wikimaniabot", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames ending in "bot" are reserved for automatic systems or "bots" which carry out many routine tasks behind the scenes - see WP:Username policy#Misleading usernames.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 11:16, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear JohnCD
Thank you for sharing your concern and pointing out a technical mistake I committed while selecting my username which I was completely unaware of. This username was selected by me after several attempts, when the proposed name was not allocated due to unavailibility. However, (as you may have experienced yourself) I was allocated this name after passing the automated security checks which is a proof credible enough, that I am an actual human being and not a bot. I wish to use this name as my first choice and will appreciate your further advise in this regard.
No, I'm sorry, but this username is not acceptable. The WP:USERNAME policy includes:

"The following types of username are not permitted because they may be misleading in a way that disrupts the project: ... Usernames which could be easily misunderstood to refer to a "bot" (which is used to identify bot accounts)... unless the account is of that type."

I do not doubt that you are a human being, but that is just the problem: this username says clearly that you are not, and that will cause confusion. Both human and automatic systems rely on being able to distinguish bot accounts by their names. If you are interested, you can read more at Wikipedia:Bots.
I have indented your reply by adding a colon character : before it, and mine by adding two colons to each paragraph. That is a convention on talk pages like this, to make it easier to keep track of a conversation. Another is to end each contribution with a group of four "tilde" characters ~~~~ which the system automatically converts of a "signature" of username plus time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 20:24, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Wikimaniabot, contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 19:17, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
