File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Neil McCartney at TelecomsHothouse January 10 2006b.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Neil McCartney at TelecomsHothouse January 10 2006b.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 20:54, 5 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 20:54, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Neil McCartney at TelecomsHothouse January 10 2006b.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Neil McCartney at TelecomsHothouse January 10 2006b.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
- If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

Disambiguation link notification for December 29
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Neil McCartney, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Orange (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:39, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Independent Film Trust, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.independentfilmtrust.org/mission.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 10:35, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Tribute Inspirations
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Tribute Inspirations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Comicmuse (talk) 09:08, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Independent Film Trust
[edit]The article Independent Film Trust has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Organisation does not meet WP:ORG notability criteria
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Comicmuse (talk) 09:22, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
About the Wikipedia page Neil McCartney
[edit]Hello, Wireless1917! I saw your questions on the talk page of the administrator "Coffee" about the deleted Wikipedia page Neil McCartney. You were right to take your questions to him, but he has been pretty inactive lately, so I will try to help. The first question is, why was it deleted? It was deleted because of a community discussion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neil McCartney. You will see a lot of talk in that discussion about notability. That is the standard by which we decide whether a subject can have an article at Wikipedia, or not. Basically it requires that the subject has been reported on, with material written ABOUT them, by independent reliable sources. You will also see references to WP:FILMMAKER and WP:JOURNALIST, which talk about how the notability guideline applies to those specific fields. Take a look at those links, and then let's talk. You can reply here on your talk page, I will see it. --MelanieN (talk) 17:33, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi MelanieN!
Thanks for this, which I have just seen. I am not sure whether I am using the correct method of replying, in the technical, ethical or any other sense. As I say, I am not very familiar with Wikipedia.... I will take a look at the references you suggest.
