A tag has been placed on Draft:Wizard of Oz Museum, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Wizardofozmuseum/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. SpencerT•C 04:43, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am new to placing articles. I was under the assumption that I am creating drafts and have no issue placing anything needed, since it is not published until approved. It was indicated to me that it sounds like a promotion. I contacted a friend editor of the newspaper to revise. He made minor changes but indicated that if I remove the price of admission, it should work. I did that. It was declined for the same reason and a block was placed on my account. I change the whole text by looking at other museums and submitted it, but it was deleted due to a block. if you check my last submission, you will notice a big change. Please advice.

Decline reason:

You have not proposed a new username as instructed. You don't seem to see how even your new text(including things like "The museum's mission is to inspire creativity, passion, and intellectual curiosity by connecting people with literature and art.") was promotional, even including directions to the museum. You have several common misunderstandings about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place for companies/organizations to tell the world about themselves. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own(and not based on materials from the company like press releases or interviews) to say about the company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. To put it another way, we are interested in what others say about your company, not what it says about itself. Companies do not merit an article merely for existing, and not every company merits an article, even in the same field. Please read about conflict of interest and paid editing, two policies you have violated. If your only goal here is to edit about your company, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics unrelated to your conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:19, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Not every museum merits a Wikipedia article- and the existence of other articles has no bearing on the existence of yours. It could be that these other articles you have seen are also inappropriate, and simply not addressed yet by this volunteer project. 331dot (talk) 10:21, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
