Speedy deletion nomination of Don Pedro Serra
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Don Pedro Serra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:57, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks,

The article Pedro Correia Garção (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Disambiguation page that does not link to any pages related to the title.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:59, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

About Don Pedro Serra and Pedro Correia Garção (disambiguation)
[edit]thank you for doing your job which needs extra patience for wiki fresh writers like me... thanks for sending me basic youtube info about talk pages construction... its very helpful...
i felt the need to write articles about Don Pedro Serra because my deceased uncle Philippine Historian and Judge Auxencio C. Dacuycuy sent us copy of Family Tree- Dacuycuys. And its significants aren't posted yet on any web page...
I felt the need to connect to Wiki... i am a Wiki Supporter. I also gathered old pictures of early governance in the Philippines and i could upload them later...
Please consider also Pedro Correia Garção (disambiguation), because Pedro Correia Garção owned solely the keywords "Pedro Serra"...
thank you for the kind attention. --Yours Highness (talk) 06:32, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Highness, let me take the opportunity to try to help you out a bit here and clear up your confusion:
- Let's start with Pedro Correia Garção (disambiguation):
- Since the search term Pedro Serra redirects to Pedro Correia Garção (because the latter's full name is Pedro António Joaquim Correia da Serra Garção, the proper thing to do is to create a page called Pedro Serra (dismbiguation) whose content is:
- Pedro Serra may refer to:
- Pedro Correia Garção, also known as Pedro António Joaquim Correia da Serra Garção, an 18th century Portuguese poet
- Don Pedro Serra, a key figure in 19th century Philippine history
- Pedro Serra may refer to:
- However, this is only true if Don Pedro Serra is truly notable, which is presently under debate. (See next point)
- Since the search term Pedro Serra redirects to Pedro Correia Garção (because the latter's full name is Pedro António Joaquim Correia da Serra Garção, the proper thing to do is to create a page called Pedro Serra (dismbiguation) whose content is:
- Next, let's look at Don Pedro Serra:
- This article relies on two sources: a hand-written family history prepared by your uncle, and a website.
- The family history cannot be considered a reliable sources no matter who your uncle is, because it has not been subjected to any form of editorial review.
- The website makes no mention of Don Pedro, but rather begins with a 20th century mayor of Tandag named Jaime Serra Ty, who may or may not have been related to Don Pedro. Even if he is, that does nothing to confer any notability on to Don Pedro.
- Since no source can be found to reliably verify the historic facts you have presented, the article fails Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and cannot be allowed to remain.
- This article relies on two sources: a hand-written family history prepared by your uncle, and a website.
- Let's start with Pedro Correia Garção (disambiguation):
- I hope you understand these explanations, and that they do not hamper your enthusiasm for Wikipedia. It is exactly these policies that keep Wikipedia the valuable source of information that it is (rather than a collection of any thing anyone wants to write). Hi WikiDan61!
[edit]- i hope you read this link.
- its not just verbal. Its documented.
- its not only from my uncle, he inserted footnotes because they (he and his father) were just the first Davao Historians referenced by the Education System here in Davao and Surigao.
- the only unverifiable matter was Jaime Serra Ty, but i hope.... wiki have established categories for giving consideration the possibilities Jaime Serra Ty could had been related to Don Pedro Serra>>>> because they were only few people here in Surigao-Davao because of war... it means there was no another Serra-Ty exists (population declined) because of those brutal period..
- i hope you read this link.
- so my grandfather and uncle's father who were pioneerings, Head of the Provincial Board of Fomer One Davao (for more years), Municipal Presidents in Davao Oriental (for more years), awarded with Papal Cross- Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (highest honor given by Pope to a lay) because of helping missionaries during Japanese World WarII...
- they themselves were the co-authors (achievements mentioned above are only few of their achievements)- compiled by my uncle... unverifiable?
- i supposed to upload old supporting pictures... not verifiable?
- and because of that.. i love you for it!
- i always read wikipedia, i was curious about non-sense details flooding the wiki websites... however, unsung heroes could not be acknowledged because their journals and achievements died with their bodies.
- God, i need websites and programmers specialized in autopsy, Necropsy and scavenging to verify relevant people and information!

Yours Highness, I see that one of the problems we may be having is that English does not appear to be your primary language, and some of the policies and guidelines may not be clear to you. I will try to spell things out so you can understand why your articles are not OK for Wikipedia:
Don Pedra Serra, by your own account, appears to have been one of several Spanish soldiers responsible for dealing with an insurgency of the Mandayas in nineteenth century Philippine history. This event may or may not have been significant -- I find no mention of it in the History of the Philippines article, but it could just have been missed. Unfortunately, since I can find no mention of Don Pedro's actions anywhere on the internet, I have to assume that the incident was just not that significant. Wikipedia policy insists that the content of articles must be verifiable -- that is, other editors must be able to check the facts and make sure they are correct. We can't rely on one person's knowledge who happens to come along and edit the page. If we did, the encyclopedia would be full of wild tales that anyone could make up.
Your uncle's book (which I can't access from my office, but I did check when I was last at home) appears to be a hand-typed manuscript that has never been published. Regardless of who wrote it (even if your uncle is a noted historian, which I can't verify), if it hasn't been published, it can't be used as a source for Wikipedia.
I understand that you believe Don Pedro to be a significant figure in history. I just don't know that anyone (outside of your small neighborhood) would agree. If you can find reliable sources (that is, sources written by someone outside of yours or Serra's family) that have written about Serra and his service in a published document (a published history book, magazine article, etc), please let me know. I'll be the first to help you write an article about him. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:16, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- P.S. I'm going to try to remain gracious, despite the fact that you appear to have embarked on a campaign to launch personal attacks against me and other Wikipedia editors. Please know that this is strictly forbidden and will likely result in you being immediately blocked should it continue. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:16, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
