Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]
Thank you for your recent submission to Articles for Creation. Your article submission has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. Please view your submission to see the comments left by the reviewer. You are welcome to edit the submission to address the issues raised, and resubmit once you feel they have been resolved.
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

I simply added information regarding a new TV show that airs nationally in the US. The data was pulled from the Network's website and from a trade article about the launch. How is that advertising?? And why am I a "spammer"?? Pretty unfriendly group here....

Decline reason:

(1) If you sincerely did not see the wording that you posted as promotional in character, then you do not have enough awareness of what you are writing to be able to edit objectively. It is clear from what you say that you would be likely to post the same kind of stuff again if you were unblocked. (2) Yes indeed, the content you posted was "pulled", as you call it, from the Network's website and from a trade article about the launch, which means that it was a copyright infringement. You can't just go around copying other people's stuff and posting it to Wikipedia. (3) You have made no attempt at all to address the conflict of interest and username issues. Umm, ok.... So can I reword and re-submit? There are a million other articles on Wikipedia about national US talk shows??? I still don't get the abusive/belittling tone... How is the wording at all "promotional." And I looked into it: copy from a network website or from IMDB would be considered fair use as long as I am not deriving financial benefit from it.

Decline reason:

That's not a valid username - the "/" character is a delimiter, and User:N/A would be a subpage "A" belonging to User:N -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:40, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is incorrect, and a common misconception about copyright. Please read WP:COPYRIGHT for more information. - Vianello (Talk) 17:04, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You say you don't see anything promotional in "Jeff Halevy and his guests share the secrets of staying in to work out, while Jeff inspires viewers to live a healthier life from the inside out"???? I don't know which would be sadder: if you honestly don't see what's wrong with language like that in an encyclopedia, or if you don't care enough to be honest about it. That's not reference work language, that's press release spew, fit only for paid advertising venues. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:28, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are much nicer ways of saying that Orange Mike. I guess you are right. My life is sad because I don't troll Wikipedia all day long. Now, if we can all be constructive and nice, I would like to write a page for a national health and fitness talk show that airs in the United States. Can I be unblocked and resubmit the article with an attempt at more "encyclopedic" language?

Decline reason:

Having viewed the deleted page and your previous unblock requests, I am not willing to unblock you at this time, since I'm not convinced that you will not quickly be reblocked for similar behaviour. However, in the spirit of WP:SECONDCHANCE, I'm offering you an option: at the bottom of this page, post the proposed revised text of your article submission, together with sources etc. under a new heading, then file another unblock request below it. If the prospective text demonstrates an improved understanding of Wikipedia's content requirements (it doesn't have to be perfect, just meet the basic standards for notability, sourcing and content) then I will happily unblock you to allow you to change your username and continue editing. Is James Garner your real name? If it isn't, we can't allow this as it is the name of not only the Rockford Files actor but a number of other notable living people we have articles on, and policy forbids that. Daniel Case (talk) 04:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Daniel Case, I go by Jim but my birth name is James. I'm fine using either... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.103.120.35 (talk) 21:24, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per the request from Yunshui, here is my proposed new article. Al language is now mine, and has not been pull;ed from the network's website (as I had previously thought was ok).

Decline reason:

Obviously, your secondchance was intended to see if you were planning on creating something that you did NOT have conflict of interest with. You have unfortunately shown that your intent on this project is to promote an entity, and you do not seem to understand the different between something existing and notability because of that bias. There also are significant issues with the draft - for example, the show has existed since April, but there are 52 episodes already? Um, no. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 14:53, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Workout From Within with Jeff Halevy

[edit]

Workout From Within with Jeff Halevy is an American syndicated talk show airing weekly in the U.S. It debuted on April 25th, 2013. [1] The half-hour long primetime program is produced and distributed in the U.S. by Veria.

Details

[edit]

The show’s focus is on healthy living, including the mental, physical, and nutritional aspects of same. Show host, Jeff Halevy and his guests, which include professional athletes and celebrities such as football legend Tiki Barber and super model Emme, [2] share their personal healthy living experiences and challenges, as Halevy both guides and interviews them on each episode. Topics covered include motivation, couples workouts, diet, exercise, nutrition, weekend warriors, and staying on track with a healthy regimen.[3]

One of the show's signature concepts is making a healthy lifestyle easy. Halevy has demonstrated this concept on various national morning shows, through both exercise, meditation, and nutrition advice. [4] [5]

I have concerns about the article draft above, and whilst I'm not going to decline the appeal, I am going to leave it for another admin to provide an opinion (and/or unblock). There are still definite whiffs of marketing-speak in the text: e.g. "professional athletes and celebrities such as football legend Tiki Barber and super model Emme" (why not "Previous guests have included Tiki Barber and Emme."?) I am also concerned that the notability requirements have not been met; three of the sources provided are inaccessible to me but appear to be video excerpts from the show, whilst the other two are just TV listings. Had I encountered this article in mainspace, I would probably have listed it for deletion; I therefore can't in good conscience issue an unblock based on its demonstration of your policy comprehension. Yunshui  07:51, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK...I'm new to this stuff, but I don't understand how a primetime show airing at 7:30pm twice per week, on a nationally available network doesn't meet notability requirements... I am also not a marketer; Tiki Barber and Emme are both on Wikipedia and are described accordingly as celebrities, and respectively as super model and professional athlete. Good Day Chicago (Fox) and ABC are both huge news organizations that have covered the shows launch, and Cynopsis is a major trade publication. The TV listings were to provide episode/guest/content information, and are reliable third-party unbiased sources. I don't understand what the issue is here. ??
