Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:ZimOfBritannia/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi there, wasn't aware it was against the rules or anything >_< I won't contest the deletion, just don't want to get my account in any trouble. ZimOfBritannia (talk) 10:29, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zim. It looks like you've written an interesting alternate history fiction in your "userspace". That is not what Wikipedia is for. Have you saved it to your own computer? Please do that straight away, as it is going to be deleted very soon. --Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 11:03, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sorry again about this but thank you! I've already backed it up elsewhere, just don't want to get in anymore trouble and get my account sanctioned. ZimOfBritannia (talk) 11:10, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • No worries - you didn't know. As far as Wikipedia goes, it's OK to test stuff out in your userspace, but the general rule of thumb is that it should ultimately be done with the goal of contributing to Wikipedia. I personally don't really recommend doing alternative universe stuff on Wikipedia because well, there are a lot of people who come to Wikipedia in order to vandalize and create hoaxes. People are a bit gunshy on that. But like I said, you didn't know and your edits didn't seem malicious. In any case, these training modules may be helpful for you - they give a general overview on editing Wikipedia. They're written for students, but the information is still applicable and good. Thanks for being so understanding with this and yeah I totally get it regarding alt history stuff, I've seen more than a few people like to add references to their favourite timeline to articles even if it's locked away somewhere on AH. But thanks again for this and I promise I won't do it again, plus I'll definitely check out those training modules and the British stuff you linked in the other reply, don't want to get spammy with them >_< At least I know how to make infoboxes now so hopefully I can get some real work in soon. • Also, you can still totally user your sandbox - it's just reset to a blank page, is all. Also, I wanted to point you towards WP:BRIT, a WikiProject devoted to covering the history of the UK on Wikipedia. There are a lot of great people there, so definitely check it out.
