CHATEAUSOLEIL Who is "us"? Only a single person should have access to and be operating your account. Regarding your question, list articles such as the one you edited should only have people listed who already have an article on Wikipedia, or at a minimum has an independent reliable source to support the content. 331dot (talk) 11:32, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

While the person in question (Austin Fernando) does have an article about him, you did not provide a wikilink to that article. CHATEAUSOLEIL I notice that "Chateau Soleil" is the name of several companies and other entities. If you are associated with any such entity (and perhaps otherwise) you cannot use this as a user name, since it implies a group user. Please see WP:USERNAME. you may go through the elaborate username change process, or you may simply abandon this username and create a new account. Dear Wikipedia Why is it that on this page the title is List of BBC children's television programmes, when it should actually be List of programmes broadcast by CBBC? Hello, AJG007. The place to suggest this is at Talk:List of BBC children's television programmes. Userpage Templates[edit]

I've seen some Userpage Templates that I like and want to use. But I couldn't seem to find anything talking about the rules of them. I don't want to get in trouble for using a user page template. Hi, ARegularWisconsinite. It sounds as if GoingBatty thinks you mean "warning templates you might put on other people's user talk pages", and has advised you accordingly. ARegularWisconsinite, that's pretty much it. I'm guessing your concern is: "are you allowed to use templates that others have created for (presumably) their own use?" Everything on Wikipedia is covered by WP:CC BY-SA, so you are allowed to take someone else's edits here and build upon them. No eplicit attribution is needed, since you cannot use a template without adding its name to your page source. If you copied the text of a template inn order to make a customne template of your own, you would need explicit attribution. -Arch dude (talk) 20:13, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Basically yes. If the source code itself provides a way for an interested editor to see where the original "creative elements" came from, then no further attribution is needed. If you do a copy-and-paste, then you must attribute the source, per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. This is just my common-sense interpretation: If in interested editor has a way to see where the information came from, then the requirement for attribution is satisfied. -Arch dude (talk) 20:50, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ARegularWisconsinite - Sorry for misunderstanding! I have added lots of userbox templates on my userpage, presuming that people create userboxes for everyone to use. When I copied a whole table from someone and pasted it in my userpage, I gave an attribution to the user as a courtesy, but don't know if they ever saw it or care. Hello, Phumzile Nozinyo. Do you mean you would like a picture of yourself on your user page? If so, you need to upload a picture which you have the copyright to to Wikimedia Commons: it's easiest using the Upload wizard. When you have got it uploaded, it will tell you the string you need to put on your user page to display the picture. If you have a selfie, that's easiest. If you want a picture that somebody else took, then they probably hold the copyright, and it's easiest to ask them to upload the picture to Commons.

I sugget you have a look at User pages to see what is allowed on user pages. You're allowed to have a limited amount of information about you that is not related to your work as a Wikipedia editor, but promotion or advertising is not allowed. I don't think anybody will object to the amount you say about your work at present, but please don't include any more promotion about it. --ColinFine (talk) 09:54, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
