POSTPONED - Women Photojournalists: an Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Presented by Prints & Photographs Division, Library of Congress

Photojournalist Jessie Tarbox Beals with camera, c. 1905

COVID-19 coronavirus update: The Library of Congress has announced a closure to public visitors from March 13th - April 1st. Therefore this onsite event has been postponed. We will reschedule once the buildings reopen to the public.

Library staff will collaborate with the public to expand and improve information in Wikipedia, the world’s most-used reference source. While we will initially focus on women whose work is represented in Library collections, this event is designed to improve articles about any women photojournalists. Anyone with an interest in learning to use Wikipedia, or in researching women in the arts, is encouraged to attend. Library of Congress staff are excited to share their expertise on Library collections that bring women photojournalists and their work to life.

No experience with Wikipedia is necessary. Training will be provided by a DC area Wikipedian. (We also welcome active Wikipedia editors!)

The event is free, but we ask people to register to help us estimate attendance.

This event is part of the Art+Feminism DC2020 campaign among DC-area arts & culture institutions, which are presented with support from Wikimedia DC.
