Mass killings under Communist regimes[edit]

I've listed this article for peer review because progress has stalled on the article and I feel it needs a fresh set of eyes. This is quite possibly the most unique article on Wikipedia. It has been fully protected for nearly seven years. A unique set of discretionary sanctions was placed on the article by ARBCOM back in 2011 wherein any proposed edit must first reach consensus on the talk page. That process is rather time consuming and, as a result, only one substantive edit request - one which was declined - has been made in the past six months. Further backstory can be found on the article's talk page, the archives of which are a fascinating read in and of themselves!

As the article has become "stuck," I hope that a peer review can help get it "unstuck." I'm hoping that some outside sets of eyes can provide fresh suggestions to be considered to improve this article.

If the reviewers feel that this is the wrong forum, and that it should go to AN or some other place, please also say so. If you feel that the article should go to AfD, please say so. Regardless, this article is in dire need of review in some way, shape, or form, and I hope that such review can be provided here.

  • I apologize that I don't have much to contribute to this most interesting article, but I do have one point I'd like to mention. In the "Proposed causes" section, I think Rummel's argument is really interesting, but the article jumps from "ideology" to "religion" rather quickly. Is there any way this can bridged a bit better? While I don't necessarily disagree with Rummel, I know that a lot of people would object to calling Marxist-Leninist communism a "religion". Perhaps you can mention what Rummel's understanding of/criteria for religion is? Or perhaps this is beyond the scope of the article? --Gen. Quon (Talk) 17:30, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
