Sci-Fi actor[edit]

I'm trying to remember who this actor is. He has a very raspy voice and serious demeanour and often appears in science fiction films as the hero (mostly in the 90's, 00's and this decade as well in all likelyhood). For the life of me I cannot remember his name or any of the names of the films he has been in. I do remember one scene from a movie I know he was in. It had him on some sort of prison space station and he was locked into a sort of punishment dome whose metal shades opened and exposed the occupant to the rays of the Sun, unprotected. Any Sci-Fi fans here that may know who I mean? The beginning of that film may or may not have had his character's wife having her heart ripped out and eaten by a guard dog at some kind of checkpoint; there may have also been a ban on unauthorised reproduction in that film, but I am not certain it is the same film as the one from the space station, and I am not certain he is in the one with wife killed, if it is not the same film. The raspy voice thing makes me think of Marc Singer, who is most famous to Sci-Fi/Fantasy fans for his roles in the early 80's in The Beastmaster and the original V series; but he's a regular in the genre since then as well. --Jayron32 03:24, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some of those plot points fit Fortress 2: Re-Entry. Googling to see whether Christopher Lambert has a raspy voice, I found somebody saying "I hate Christopher Lambert, him and his annoying raspy voice", so I guess he does, although that may just be confirmation bias. Fortress (1993 film) also features the plot elements wife, checkpoint and one child reproduction limit. Card Zero (talk) 10:23, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of the sun made me think of Cillian Murphy, who's been in a few sci-fi films: Sunshine, 28 Days Later, Inception, and the last 2 Batman films. The bit about the sun also made me think of Sunshine (2007 film), specifically Cliff Curtis, more than once in the film his character exposes himself to sunlight although he does so voluntarily, and there is nothing in the film about his wife getting killed by a dog ([1] spoilers if you haven't seen it)--Jac16888 ^Talk 16:47, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where to re-watch newly-aired new episodes of The Great Food Truck Race?[edit]

I remember a UK Scout campfire song in the 1960s called "Nicky Nacky Nocky Noo" that I was surprised to find here. The same page says "This American kids' song sets a variation of the British nursery rhyme "Brow Bender" to the melody of a traditional German folk song." article "Pinky and the Brain"[edit]

Within the article itself it cites the inspiration for the visuals of the characters to be Tom Minton And Eddie Fitzgerald, two creative types from the animation world. While I have no doubt that this is true, I have wondered if it has ever been noted, either by those involved with the Pinky and the Brain series or anyone in "critic-land", that the mice also bear more than a passing resemblance to the TV political pundits Mark Shields and Paul A. Gigot, Shields more so, who were the resident news analysts at the predecessor program to the PBS Newshour, the MacNeil-Lehrer Report, at the same time the animated series was in production. (Shields is still on the show in 2011.) This link on Amazon says that their 4GB Xbox 360s do include one month of free Xbox Live Gold membership; but you should check the box (or if you're ordering online, the website) before buying to make sure — some stores might have old inventory they are selling and the contents of the box may differ from what's claimed on this page. Reporter I.D. question[edit]

Hi, I recently went to a Reds-Marlins game at Sun Life Stadium and I noticed this reporter. He seems to work for Fox Sports, judging by his microphone, and I believe he also worked for the Reds, since he stayed on the Reds' dugout side and interviewed Yonder Alonso after the game.[3] Does anyone know who this reporter is?
