[edit]Help Please - Identifying a film with little to go on.
[edit]Set in America (out West I think), but although not very modern, it is not a "western". The film is about two bouncers - both highly experienced experts. In one early scene they walk into a bar/club and are commenting to each other on the likely dangerous people there based on small clues they notice about them (this scene builds a picture of the 'technical' know-how of their profession). The two stars are well known but I can't recall who they are. The plot is about them being up against the local big-man who runs the town. One of the bouncers gets killed and his friend finds him laid out on a table(?) with a knife(?) in him. The surviving bouncer takes on the big-man and his back-up alone . . . and wins, of course. The film has lots of great hand to hand fighting showing how good and tough they are.
Is this very sketchy outline enough for anyone to be able to help me? Please?? Gurumaister (talk) 18:24, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Googled "film bouncer" and a few entries down there is Road House (1989 film), which seems to fit your plot perfectly--Jac16888 Talk 18:31, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Jac, you are an absolute Ace, a Star, a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you so much - it certainly is the film I was looking for. I put "bouncer" into the IMDB website but couldn't find it. I should have trusted google. Thanks again. Gurumaister (talk) 18:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, the IMDB search would only find words in the title, or names of actors, not part of the description. I will mark this resolved. StuRat (talk) 21:24, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Looking for a old arcade like video game!
[edit]It was a PC game i think, but could be for consoles too, it was some guy jumping on something. it was 2d, like the sonic game, it had dark backgrounds with all kinds of colored pipes all around the background and it was about something and jumping around on platforms and such, I only remember that it was a guy and had a dark background with lots of pipes leading all around. it was from the 80s or 90s, it was not reaaaally old but still kinda old. Was for PC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.157.232.17 (talk) 22:38, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds like the original Mario Bros. or the maybe an early Super Mario Bros. RudolfRed (talk) 23:03, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Nooo sadly it was not mario bros! It was a much darker game this one, and the character was really small and long. Was not any well known game, not mario or sonic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.157.232.17 (talk) 23:05, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Could "long" be the lances in Joust (video game) ? StuRat (talk) 23:10, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, it was not joust but thanks, it was also younger, im pretty sure. It was just a male.. in some suit.. and jumping around on maaany platforms with a dark background with looots of pipes connecting to each other in the background, the background was dark-blue\black. 157.157.232.17 (talk) 00:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Metroid? Except the main character was female, though obscured by a rather androgynous suit of armor. --Jayron32 01:14, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- In the Commodore 64 game Coil Cop (US version) or Thing Bounces Back (European version) (YouTube video), the main character is a spring. Each level has several pipes the character can jump into and come out the other end at another place in the level. I remember the small square platforms sometimes descended with every jump. Hitting the question mark platforms could cause them to change into an oil can power-up or a 1-ton weight. The screen shots and video only show an early level with a pink color scheme, but other levels had blue or maybe green pipes, all with a black background. --Bavi H (talk) 02:24 and 03:27, 28 April 2012 (UTC).
- Out on a limb here, but could the games be the Mega Man http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/mega-man/screenshots or Mega Man III http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/mega-man-3-the-robots-are-revolting/screenshots games published for the PC? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sazea (talk • contribs) 04:27, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Frankly, it sounds like Jumpman to me. Another possibility is Miner 2049er. --McDoobAU93 04:45, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the replies everyone but it is not any of these! it was aaaalot younger, these are so old, it was kinda small ingame, and the pipes were only just background, and it had a futuristic look. The guy was also kinda small in the game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.157.232.17 (talk) 15:54, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Jet Set Willy? Out of interest when you say PC do you mean a Windows-PC or would you count a ZX Spectrum as a PC? ny156uk (talk) 08:18, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Can you remember if it was a windows or DOS game? Was there a black screen before the game loaded, or was there a desktop? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sazea (talk • contribs) 13:03, 29 April 2012 (UTC) Nope, it was in a pc as far as i can remember. oh and It was not that old either, it must have been from the 90s. It looked younger o.o but thanks 157.157.232.17 (talk) 10:10, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
If can you remember if there was any shooting involved? That seems to be a part of a lot of futuristic platformers. Sazea (talk) 13:13, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
hmmm my memory is really fuzzy.. all i really can remember are these daaaark-filled-with-pipe background and it being younger then most of these - can't remember if it was a shooter or not, it was i think a bit farther way then these above, these are so close, you could see more of the place and the guy was smaller.. He was in the foreground on something and in the background were the pipes in different colors all around a dark-blue / black futuristic background. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.157.232.17 (talk) 14:45, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Loderunner. --LarryMac | Talk 15:04, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when you say younger, do you mean newer looking graphics? As well, are any of the following familiar? BioMenace, Captain Comic,Duke Nukem ( 2,3), or Electro Man? Sazea (talk) 00:20, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- What about Janitor Joe...sometimes referred to as Jumpin Joe? Fits the time frame you're looking for. Quinn ✹SUNSHINE 04:22, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Hmm! It was younger then these and looked alot younger, the latest it can be from is 2003. I'd say it's from 1988 - 2003.
