NHL team record: consecutive regulation wins[edit]

There's been a lot of talk in the media about how the Montreal Canadiens have just set a new record for most consecutive regulation wins to start a season, at 9. What is the record, not necessarily at the start of a season? 96.46.196.45 (talk) 23:31, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Both start of season and other consecutive wins are listed at List of NHL records (team)#Season Streaks. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 00:38, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But the question was about regulation wins, i.e. no overtime. --70.49.170.168 (talk) 05:07, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you can't find that stipulation via Google, you should be able to infer it by examining the various streaks listed, and find the longest one without any overtime games. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:56, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Where can you find an exhaustive list of the longest winning streaks, all the way down to 9? 96.46.196.45 (talk) 16:28, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
According to This, the Penguins during their 1993 historic 17 game win streak, had 12 games in a row where they won in regulation. So 12 MAY be the answer for the OP. The best way to look now is find any other win streaks from 17-->12 and see if any team beats that streak. --Jayron32 16:38, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Near as I can tell, the answer may be the 1981–82 New York Islanders season, which according to this had a 15 game win streak, NONE of which went into overtime. That, I believe, is also the second longest winning streak in NHL history, and the prior record before the Penguins 17 game run, so it would be the answer for the OP's question, unless we can find another 15 or 16 game winning streak. --Jayron32 16:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Jayron. Yes, there was no overtime until 1983. Sounds like we're getting close! 96.46.196.45 (talk) 17:08, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This confirms that there hadn't been any longer streaks as of early 2013. 96.46.196.45 (talk) 17:11, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
