June 6[edit]

How do I find what movies, tv shows, commercials a particular song was used in?[edit]

For example: I hear a pleasant song (say "Stink" by John Lurie, on the "Get Shorty" soundtrack) and I think to myself: "I _know_ I've heard that song on some ad or something". But I don't know of any way to find the ads (or other movie soundtracks, TV shows, etc) where that song was used.

I assume this information exists somewhere, since the ads, movies, and TV shows all must pay royalties ... but I have no idea how to find it.

Searching Google for "internet movie song database" finds a few sites that claim to have the info you're looking for. Dismas|(talk) 00:48, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

this user enquires the real life term which is utilized to describe the situation of "ghost protocol"[edit]

ghost protocol has been initiated. the entire organization has been dissolved. all support and extraction has been halted.FAMASFREENODE (talk) 14:34, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's a made up term. There is no real life equivalent as far as the public knows.
By the way, I think that the OP is referring to the film Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Dismas|(talk) 16:22, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Plausible deniability can require dismantling an organization, so the leaders will not be held responsible for it's actions. An organisation can also appear to dissolve, but really just go underground. This often happens when one is outlawed and/or under investigation. StuRat (talk) 17:04, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Movie Trivia[edit]

In a movie quiz, what is the link with Danny Kaye, Erich von Stroheim, Judith Roberts, Anthony Hopkins and Michael Redgrave? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.36.254.250 (talk) 23:35, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

None of them ever worked with Kevin Bacon? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:19, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It may be that they all worked with their spouses. Anthony Hopkins and Petronella Barker worked together on A Flea in her Ear. Judith Roberts and Pernell Roberts worked together on Trapper John, M.D.. Danny Kaye's wife Sylvia Fine was a songwriter, not an actress, but she wrote for several of his films, including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson worked together on The Captive Heart. I can't find any information on the work of Erich von Stroheim's wives, but it's possible he worked with one of them. --Jayron32 02:15, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And von Stroheim worked with his wife Valerie Germonprez in The Heart of Humanity. I expect a little beer money out of this if I'm correct, you know... --Jayron32 02:18, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
