[edit]Steve Wozniak Reported Dead in 2012 Iranian Earthquake
[edit]On today's Home Page, why is Steve Wozniak reported as having died in the Iranian earthquake of 2012? I have a screenshot of today's Home Page, if you want to see what I mean. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CSMasick (talk • contribs) 09:29, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't say that. It lists the earthquake as one of the things that happened on 11 August in history. On the next line, it lists Wozniak as having been born on this day in 1950. That's two separate things. --Viennese Waltz 09:44, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Why aren't the notable birth and death dates listed chronologically with the other events? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 11:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Because it creates a more efficient use of space to put them at the bottom on a line or two than give each one of them their own blurb. --Jayron32 12:09, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe it needs a separate little heading. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:48, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- For once I agree with you. There should be a heading "Births and deaths" above that line, to separate them from the other events. --Viennese Waltz 13:24, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe The Rambling Man (talk · contribs) could weigh in here. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 13:58, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- I've raised it on the main page talk page here. --Viennese Waltz 14:08, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Ignore the Last Question on 8/10
[edit]The reference to Steve Wozniak was probably related to his birthday on the next day, 8/11. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CSMasick (talk • contribs) 18:25, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- @CSMasick: did you see the discussion above? Anyway AFAICT Wozniak was born on 11 August and your seem to agree with that. Your first post was made at 9am on 11 August in UTC time zone which is what SA/OTD and the rest of the main page (and question dates on the RD) follows. So it was likely already Wozniak's birthday from the point of view of the main page when you saw this. It was not about something the next day. All the stuff you saw at SA/OTD was related to 11 August rather than 10 August. Nil Einne (talk) 22:15, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
