How Can I Donate By Check?[edit]

I'm a victim of severe Identity Theft. How can I donate to wikipedia other than online credit card. Do you accept checks? If so, where should I mail my donation to? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:100C:B03E:E801:99F2:695E:1F11:3C0C (talk) 23:10, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

meta:donations says you can, but Donations go directly to the WP:WMF, this page is watched by editors of the English Wikipedia. Try asking at meta:Talk:Fundraising and a staff member should be able to help you — Preceding unsigned comment added by I Am Chaos (talkcontribs) 23:46, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Before donating, you might want to read Wikimedia_Foundation#Finances and this viral tweet.--Shantavira|feed me 09:28, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Remember, financial security is bad. It would be far better for Wikipedia to be on the brink of financial ruin, so the website could be shut down at any moment. --Jayron32 15:57, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Personal checks have their own set of identity theft problems. Most have machine readable information printed at the bottom (labeled #7 in this sample image), including the routing number of your bank and your checking account number
  • My advice is that you should repair your personal situation first. Personal checks have their own identity theft problems. Most have have machine readable information printed at the bottom, including the routing number of your bank and your checking account number. And an ID thief can use these numbers to create counterfeit checks. They could order new checks from a check printing service, and have these new checks shipped to them instead of you. Or visit online websites that simply allow you to pay via check just by entering in the routing number of your bank and your checking account number.[1] Zzyzx11 (talk) 16:29, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
