Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

This does not appear to be the WP:COMMONNAME in WP:RS. See this Times of India article which refers to it as just the "National Board of Examinations (NBE)." Consider starting a WP:RM for this. C F A 💬 17:16, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I will do that. But at least create a redirect. It's the correct name.--2409:4073:2008:774F:3860:B5BF:7F3A:AFD2 (talk) 07:11, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hobelauce, some sources say TasPorts and others say the full name, so the common name is disputed. ToadetteEdit! 11:57, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Government of Wales Act  Wales Act (currently a redirect instead to Wales Act 1978) (move · discuss) – WP:TITLECON, the Wales Act 2014, the Wales Act 2017 have both been passed, so the name norm has changed away from "Government of Wales Act" - currently "Wales Act" redirects to the 1978 law regarding the failed referendum, but this would be referred to on this new "Wales Act" page in the same way the failed 1978 referendum is referred to in the Scotland Act DotCoder (talk) 13:20, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DotCoder: This could potentially be controversial because there are still two acts referred to as "Government of Wales Act" which would not necessarily fit under a "Wales Act" DAB. Maybe there should be two separate DAB pages — one for "Government of Wales Acts" and one for "Wales Acts." Regardless, this is too complicated for WP:RMT, so consider starting a WP:RM. The Northern Ireland Act page lists the Northern Ireland Constitution Act, but okay, I have written the move request onto the page. DotCoder (talk) 19:51, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
