February 18[edit]

Sorry for this simple question. I cannot tell if I've correctly submitted my first article. At the top of the page there is notice that says it is not pending review, but at the bottom, it says it is waiting for review. Did I do something wrong? Thank you, Adriane AdrianeWynn (talk) 00:41, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's normal. It's been submitted. Bear in mind it might take some time for it to be reviewed. --(ʞɿɐʇ) ɐuɐʞsǝp 00:46, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

You have declined the article because there are no sources cited (verification). Will official websites suffice? In the case of Greg Broadmore, he is an employee of Weta Workshop - will a citation from them suffice?

Thanks Thorntoncomms (talk) 08:30, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm afraid that won't be sufficient. Official websites can be used for basic factual information, but they cannot be used to establish notability, so you will need other reliable, secondary, sources, for a submission to pass. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:46, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about your submissions, not to post submissions themselves. I have had to decline your submission and have left advice on it. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:44, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LA Jay References[edit]

Hi Huon,

You say that "the source for the statement that he "Produced/Co-Produced the entire album, including the hit debut single "Your Sweetness (Is My Weakness)” which peaked at #6 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs charts" doesn'd actually say he produced that single." But in my reference to Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/Good-Girls-All-For-Your-Love/release/1194169) it does attribute the production, keyboard, drums, and song-writing on that single to L.A. Jay. And the Last Fm link supports the chart placing: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Good+Girls.

Surely that is enough to evidence him producing a successful single on Motown Records, to whom he was a signed artist?

Thanks again,

Alice.

Let me put it this way: If you have to combine multiple sources to link LA Jay to an album's chart success, it's pretty obvious that his contribution to that album isn't widely credited with the success. See also WP:SYN on how we shouldn't combine multiple sources to make a point that none of the sources makes. The various Discogs pages don't even write a single sentence about LA Jay; that's not the significant coverage we're looking for. Last.fm seems to be user-submitted content (there's an "edit bio" link), not a reliable source, and of course a source not even mentioning LA Jay also isn't significant coverage. This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please do not post your submission here, but instead use the Article Wizard to create your submission. I hope this helps. Your submission is queued for review, but there is a backlog of over 1,500 articles at present. Please be patient. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:49, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Update - I have declined your submission as the article is now live in mainspace and another editor has fixed up the referencing for it. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:53, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Given the series of refusals for the previous entry concering Remi Babinet, I wish to change this entry to that of his compnay, BETC, of which he is the 'B'. I hope to have respected the different reference criteria.

My question; I don't see how to create a box entry on the right hand side of the page, where I can put basic information and a company picture or logo.

Are you able to advise?

many thanks

  • Hi. If you want to move the article, since you have been around long enough on Wikipedia to be autoconfirmed, you can simply move it yourself by clicking on the "Move" button on the toolbar. Make sure you only remove the "Rémi Babinet" and replace that with "BETC", and leave "Articles for creation/" as it is. As for how to create a box entry, have a look at Help:Infobox to see how one is made. There are a variety of infoboxes to choose from, which give various fields that appropriate for that type. Some Clarification on Notability[edit]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chester Fritz I'm still working on this article, and I know there are some monographs on Fritz and will probably be going to the library sometime this week to work with them. However, I'm trying to pin down exactly what I should be looking for. When I first submitted the article I had read over Wiki's notability policy and assumed it meant that if there were a few outside sources the person was considered notable; not necessarily the content of those sources. Any feedback on this line of thought, or the article in general would be appreciated. Unearthly Stew (talk) 18:42, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well yes, technically a person is considered notable if he has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent sources. But the article's content should also be verifiable from such reliable sources, and Wikipedia's policy on neutrality requires that we cover the topic's various aspects according to the weight given them in the sources. Fritz seems notable enough to me (and I disagree with the reviewer that he'd have to be notable for anything except being a successful businessman), but I would de-emphasize the UND sources - the Chester Fritz Library is probably not the most independent source on Chester Fritz. Huon (talk) 19:09, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback! I'll add some non-UND sources and resubmit.

gordon parker novelist and playwright[edit]

I submitted an article re the above writer but I think I may have duplicated the submission as it states there is another identical one. How to I check this and how do I delete one of them.Delavallass (talk) 19:30, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Try clicking Edit at the top of the page, not on the right. You should then be able to see that the material is repeated. Remove one, then click Save Page. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:18, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article creation submission problem: Joachim Kempin[edit]

I am having trouble resubmitting my article for review. I have thoroughly edited my article after it was rejected, and I am trying to resubmit it for review. How do I do this? My article is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Joachim Kempin. Thank you. Bramle13 (talk) 21:17, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can submit a draft for review by adding {{subst:submit}} to the very top. I have done so for you. However, the draft still has some problems: The "Early career" section cites no sources, several other sources are primary sources such as Kempin's own book (as opposed to an independent review of the book) or the website of an organization he's affiliated with, and while other sources look much better, the article's text largely isn't based on what the sources say. For example, Foley's profile offers quite some details on Kempin, including for example the year he joined Microsoft, but those largely didn't find their way into the draft. Stephen Hughes and Jack Kenny — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stphughes (talkcontribs) 23:20, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is supposed to tell us what, exactly? The date on that copyright page does not agree with the date given in the draft. The latest copyright was issued for a video cassette in 2002, with the motion picture itself copyrighted in 2000, but the draft says it was a 2003 movie. Either the film was copyrighted years before it existed, or the draft is wrong. I suppose this was meant as evidence for the image's release under a free license, but it cannot serve in that capacity - firstly we cannot tell whether User:Stphughes is indeed Jack Kenny, and secondly, that website doesn't actually say Kenny owns the copyright to the DVD cover anyway. Above I explained the steps that should be taken regarding copyright confirmation.
By the way, Wikipedia does not allow shared accounts - one account may have only one person in control. So you may want to make sure you comply with that policy lest the account is blocked. The relevant policy is WP:ROLE.
Finally, you didn't address the issues I pointed out the last time, namely, "the draft currently does not cite any reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as news coverage or reviews in reputable movie magazines. To be considered notable, the film must have received significant coverage in such sources (and IMDb, for example, is not considered significant)." Thus I have to decline the submission again.
