08:57:02, 24 July 2015 review of submission by E W Musgrave[edit]

Hello At what stage are we with approving this article? Permission to use the image I supplied has now been received by Wikipedia, I understand. When might it go live? Best regards Eric Musgrave

E W Musgrave 08:57, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

All reviewers are volunteers. I can tell you that it is unlikely to go live with the image placeholder present. It will be reviewed when a reviewer who feels competent to review it arrives at it in their work. There is no timetable. Fiddle Faddle 11:19, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
no Declined It seems I found I felt I was competent. A full comment is on the draft. Fiddle Faddle 11:36, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

11:56:40, 24 July 2015 review of submission by Classical Opera Company[edit]

I am trying to post an article about leading Mozart conductor Ian Page on behalf of the opera company Classical Opera, which Ian founded in 1997. Our submission has been rejected on the grounds that Ian is not a notable figure. However, Classical Opera have released 2 CDs on Linn Records and 3 on Signum Records under Ian's direction, all of which have received critical acclaim. The company has also been the subject of extensive press coverage: the industry magazine 'Opera' recently described Ian as 'one of the most stylishly authoritative interpreters of [Mozart] working today' (Brian Robins, Opera), and his imaginative casting has been widely noted in the popular press (“You can count on Page to come up with startlingly good singers... Singing Mozart successfully is the hardest thing: a matter of subtlety, placement, phrasing, legato and pure musicality, and these [singers] are on the way to somewhere special.” The Times). For more information about the company, you can visit our website at www.classicalopera.co.uk.

Please advise on what I need to do in order for this article to be published. Do I need to add to the References section to prove Ian as a notable figure? Any help you can give would be hugely appreciated!

Best wishes,

Alex

First and most important, your username is against our policies, So, in reality, is the one you used to create the draft.
Yes you need sources. For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Reliable sources of references (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:ABM_Headhunters)

As a beginner, I have had my article declined due to lack of traceable sources of references. I have not been able to locate one apart from where the organisation was opened (Corporate affairs commission-with the expectation of Wiki editor to place a request from the organisation of the source (I may be wrong).

So, it will really be appreciated if your help can be offered at this point. I don't really know how and where to start again.

Looking forward to reading from you.

@HaastrupA: If significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article doesn't exist, then it may be too soon for this company to have an article on Wikipedia. Not all companies can or should have Wikipedia articles. Once the company has received more attentions from independent reliable sources, an article can be created. --Ahecht (TALK

13:33:08, 24 July 2015 review of submission by Shlomireuveni[edit]

Hi, My article has been rejected and I was notified that: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources". However, prior to submission I made sure that the article is supported by reliable articles that were published in well established peer review journals. I would like to get my article online. How should I proceed? Many thanks, Shlomi Reuveni

Shlomireuveni (talk) 13:33, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Shlomireuveni:. The problem that you haven't shown significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. Most of the sources of the article were written by you (or at least by an author whose name matches your username). The sources that you didn't write are about a different TSS and don't talk about the ASIP. Wikipedia isn't the place to publicize your own research, and articles tend to only be included on subjects that other people are already talking about in reliable sources. --Ahecht (TALK

13:49:44, 24 July 2015 review of submission by Jothebulb[edit]

Request for creating a page for Sunbury Skiff Club was rejected. Perhaps I didn't title the page correctly? The page was saved in my sandbox under my user name, but I didn't perhaps make it clear that the entry should be for a club, not me as an individual?

The reason I believe that the entry should be allowed is that the other 5 skiffing clubs on the Thames have their own page, so there is no reason for this club not to have an entry as well.

The club is also referred to on a number of other pages, where links to the other clubs also occur, so it would seem wrong not to allow this club to have an entry as well.

Jothebulb (talk) 13:49, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jothebulb: The page title isn't an issue. The problem is that you need to show that the club meets the standards of WP:ORG, which requires citations to significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. There may be other clubs with articles that don't meet those standards, but that is because Wikipedia is monitored by volunteers and sometimes bad articles can fall through the cracks. --Ahecht (TALK

Request on 14:50:28, 24 July 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Laurafbl1[edit]

Hello, I have re edited my article and submitted additional independent sources to my article as suggested by my last reviewer. Please let me know if this is good. Thanks!

16:27:54, 24 July 2015 review of submission by JacobSiefring[edit]

I created this article on the French writer Pierre Senges. I wanted to create a sidebar "Read in another language" link to the preexisting article in French, but the links are wrong -- there is a redirect to the author's publisher's page, for example. I am not sure how to fix the problem.

Jacob (talk) 16:27, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@JacobSiefring: When I click "Français" under the Languages toolbar on the left I get fr:Pierre Senges. Did you already resolve this issue, or is there something else that needs to be fixed? --Ahecht (TALK

I have tried to fix it but from the English page the French link still leads to the French article about the publisher. From the French and Czech articles the links are correct. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 17:13, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Dodger67 and JacobSiefring: Very strange. When I tried it before, the french link definitely look me to fr:Pierre Senges, but now it's taking my to fr:Éditions Verticales. The Wikidata looks good, so I'm not sure where the problem is. --Ahecht (TALK

@Dodger67, JacobSiefring, and Ahecht: Every time I have looked at this it has all worked 100% correctly in every direction. I wonder if there is some sort of caching issue, either server or client based, and that the perceived problem might not just evaporate as cache expires? 16:58:26, 24 July 2015 review of submission by aheline[edit]

Aheline (talk) 16:58, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my article has been denied twice because the "submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed".

Are there certain key words I need to get rid of throughout the article? How do I make it sound less like an advertisement? Similar companies seem to be formatted the same way as my article so I am unsure as to why my article is not being approved. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

@Aheline: Answered in great detail on the draft. Worldbruce (talk) 01:36, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
