I need help please in tying the listed references to the article please so that the page has verifiable sources. Can someone do this that has a better grasp of the requirements than myself? Thanks :-)

You know, I don't have time to decipher the above gobbledy gook. Sorry, I have a life.

I submitted a draft article for page creation about a year ago. Apparently it was rejected because it is not in the encyclopedia. I'd like to know how to find it.

I submitted it for review because all my wikipedia submissions are always anonymous and made from public access points. That is my policy. Live with it. Your new policy - no page creations by ip addresses requires this review process. I'm trying to live with it.

I saved the text, because I knew something like this might happen. The following gobbledy gook is at the top of that text and may be helpful: (I see from preview this just displays slightly more intelligible gook - despite what your auto formatting seems to say, I did in fact press the submit button. I also see now why the gook is useless.)

{{AFC submission|t||ts=20141125200942|u=216.251.133.187|ns=118}} <!--- Important, do not remove this line before article has been created. --->

It has not helped me and I've already spent 20 minutes trying to find the draft using your tools with no success.

The article was submitted in the spirit of a stub. It supplies information that I know to be true from my experience as a professional engineer. It contains no references, and I suppose the stub was rejected by some editor with no competence in the area who was just looking for a quick reason to eject. I've learned in the last few days that is very common.

I submitted the article because on that day, I was searching for data on the topic that I did not know and was surprised the wikipedia had no entry at all. My thinking was "if I start a stub, maybe people who know more than I do will add to it. Maybe eventually the knowledge I seek will be included." That seems to be what wikipedia is about: sharing and collaboratively refining truth. This is expository knowledge: spun polyester fabric is a material, not a debatable political point of view. References are less than essential and unnecessary for a stub when the editor is competent to evaluate the topical area.

I discovered today you do have articles on tyvek and typar which are trademarked brand names for spun polymer fabrics. You also have a general article on spun bonded fabrics. These pages do not show up when searching for "spun polyester". At the very least, you need to add an alias so people can find those pages when searching for spun polyester.

At this juncture, I may or may not pursue the process of championing my stub. I spent a day over the holidays reading about the hostile edit environment of wikipedia, including many references to allegations of misogynistic hostility. My conclusion is simple: I really don't need the grief, and now that page creation is banned for ip contributors in the new world order, most likely I will join the ranks of wikipedia's ex-contributors. The friction is just too high now. I may not even return to see a reply to this question, for I doubt I can find this page again in the rabbit hole. The process is just too arcane. Maybe in a week, if I can find it in my browser history easily, I'll have a look.-- 96.48.60.153 (talk) 05:56, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was very sweet of you to place this diatribe here. I might have time to help you despite having a life myself if you would have the politeness to tell us the title of the article, but you seem to have missed that important piece of information out.
The gobbledegook that you can't be bothered with appears to reveal an IP address of 216.251.133.18 as the editor, bit I can see no trace of any contributions there.
Maybe we will be willing to help you, despite having lives ourselves, if you would ameliorate your distinctly hostile and patronising tone. This is the help desk. We do not have a whine desk. Fiddle Faddle 13:03, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am trying to write an article about a british artist Bernard Francis Dillon. He has won a number awards and provided work for local community for a number of years. The issue is there are no online references to the awards won. Is there any other method of providing references to awards and achievements?

Anthonydillon (talk) 12:16, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Anthonydillon: It is not essential that references are online. WP:CITE and WP:REFB may help you. When using offline references it is important to create the fullest citation to an offline work that you can.
Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Try the search above. IT often generates online results where none were taught possible. Fiddle Faddle 12:57, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked for help on this noticeboard because this draft is one I do not have the skill to work with. Thank you for asking us here. Fiddle Faddle 15:37, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Chishtiyasufi:, I have some experience working on articles for Sufi leaders, so I'll drop in to give some advice. My main point I want to emphasize is that writing a biography of a Sufi leader for Wikipedia is completely unlike writing a biography within the Sufi community. The entire tone, voice, style of writing is very different, so you cannot simply write a traditional Sufi article about someone and expect it to pass on Wikipedia. I'll leave some further comments at the top of your draft. MatthewVanitas (talk) 11:30, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So he's a Sufi leader. The article needs to say that, in its first sentence (and could probably omit most of his twelve names). Maproom (talk) 19:33, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

15:49:08, 1 January 2016 review of submission by Reynardo

[edit]

Hello there,

I'm having trouble closing the tables for stage acting and films. The one for television looks fine, but for the life of me (and probably because it's 3am) I can't see what I've done wrong on the formatting.

Thanks

GB

Reynardo (talk) 15:49, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done @Reynardo: Your problem was 3am. I added "|" characters for the cells which were imperfect. They need to be present whether there is information in the cell or not. You'd have solved this easily at a better time of day. Fiddle Faddle 15:54, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
