This isn't the right place to discuss it, but I'm not sure there is enough that is specifically written about Sleaze Metal to justify an article separate from the Glam Metal article. Hi Ombreapp. Rejection is intended to be final, to communicate that the topic is not notable (not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia). No amount of editing will make the draft acceptable. There is a chain of articles about ocean and 4 years research done by the innogle team, including a city call Pumpuhar which is under the ocean and the safe ty solution and under water data mining using the fishermen vessels. we initially started with companies pages as it has samples. as this has interlinked with women lead awarded solution interlink with IIT, NIOT we took this project which is led by Innogle.

Kindly guide us if any amendments has to be done. Kindly note we took samples of company pages and follow exactly the same pattern of those.

@The Supermind: Your draft is in the queue. All reviewers are volunteers and review pages in no particular order. There are no reviewer assignments. On average, it can take months for a review. Given that you have non-English sourcing, it would likely take longer as it needs someone familiar with the languages. @123.201.117.242: It is unlikely you can improve this article to be accepted. We need at least multiple reliable independent in-depth sources, such as news articles, books, journals, etc. No press releases, promotional material, related sources, directory entries, etc. None of the sources in the article pass this bar. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:52, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have submitted my first draft to Wikipedia and wanted to get feedback if the draft submission is adequate. I have submitted it as a member of the World Wide Web Consortium, Web of Things Working Group, where we want to have Wikipedia articles for our standards, similar to HTML standard.

Egekorkan, Well for starters, you may have a conflict of interest, which you should declare. If you have been paid in any way shape or form, you must declare that by following the steps at WP:PAID.
The draft so far is inadequete as it has few independent sources. To include something in WIkipedia, it needs reliable and independent sources that give it significant coverage; i.e. establish its notability. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 20:24, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Barchart.com Inc[edit]

Hello Wikipedia community: I've been working on my first substantial Wikipedia entry on a company called Barchart.com Inc. but it has been denied. My editor on this page is Robert McClenon, and he pointed out two problems with the page. That it lacks sufficient independent sources and its too company-centric in its focus. I'll certainly admit it leans heavily on press release announcements from the company, although I would suggest that such company news (provided it is legitimate news about the company, or a significant product or personnel announcement, can be a useful source of information as a simple point of reference, even if not picked up by a newspaper or magazine.) I also erred in linking product information back to the company's website, although that was an effort to document every entry on the page.

All of that said, I'm still interested in getting the piece published and wonder if I stripped it down substantially, and largely used independent sources such as the Chicago Tribune, Crain's Chicago Business, WatersTechnology and others, if that would meet the Wikipedia standards.

I've looked at other pages on Wikipedia such as Goldman Sachs, CME Group and DTN (company), the later being a firm largely in the same financial services sector as Barchart and many of the types of sources are similar in nature. This isn't to say they do not have independent sources - of course they do. But they also utilize press releases in certain areas to highlight products and so on. I point this out only as a matter of comparison.

My simple question is: If I trimmed down the entry with those independent sources, would it be more likely to be published? The independent sources tend to be more about the news of the company, (a product roll out, management news) and not profiles or features about Barchart as a firm.

Jkharouf, Be careful about comparing your article to existing ones. Many of the articles on Wikipedia were created before we began the rigorous Article for Creation process. That means a lot of ...honestly junk articles were created, and many of them have slipped through the cracks. And just because an article does something doesn't mean it meets policy. You can read more about the logical fallacies involved in article comparison at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
Using press releases is not generally acceptable, as the source is not independent. Same goes for the company's own website. If you can find sources such as the Chicago Tribune, that would be ideal. Sources like a newspaper or magazine help meet the reliable and independent requirement. But at least half of your sources should show significant coverage as well, not just passing mentions.
The article needs to be cut down some, and made to read neutrally. If you can source it well and make it non-promotional, it has a better chance of being accepted. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:55, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RVelarde200, Howdy hello! We're glad you're editing, and thanks for asking. Most folks don't ask for advice before starting an article, much to their disservice.
For any article, the subject must first be notable, i.e. have significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources (think newspapers, books, magazines, quality websites). Once you have found enough sources (at least five is a good starting point), then you can start to write the article. It needs to read neutrally and like an encyclopedia article. If you know the person, you should probably not write the article, as that is a conflict of interest. If you've been paid in any way to write an article, you must disclose that by following the steps at WP:PAID.

If you'd like some advice on whether the subject is notable, leave a note on my talk page by following the "edits ho" part of my signature. Please say who the subject is, and provide any sources you've found thus far. Creating an article from scratch is the hardest part of Wikipedia, but with some perseverance, it can be done.
