Welcome to Tag & Assess 2021! Here's what it's all about. The India WikiProject has a backlog of 10,800 unassessed articles, built up over the last few years. The time has come for comprehensive housekeeping and that's what this drive is all about. The drive will run from 1 September 2021 to 31 October 2021. The opening/closing time for both days is midnight/0001 hours of that day IST.
The purpose of holding this contest is three-fold:
to ensure that all the articles are within our scope;
to ensure that they are correctly tagged for task forces;
and to ensure that they are correctly assessed for class and importance.
You then work through the range, tagging and assessing, following the instructions below.
At first, it will take about a minute to check each article but, with a bit of practice, people get much faster than that. If you have any queries about scope, class or task forces, please raise them on the talk page. Alternatively, leave a message on the talk page of one of the drive coordinators.
Please add your name below, using the {{User0|"Your name"}} template. Then add a running total (tally) of articles worked on. This tally should include articles that you have evaluated and needed no changes, as well as those that you have re-assessed. It will be the basis for awards. For an example of how to set this up, check how the coordinator's name and tally is placed in the list below. It will be clearer when you click the "edit" link near this section.

Refer to the WikiProject India Quality Scale before assessing. Only the following values of article class can be awarded by a user: stub, start, C, and B.
Read the article, assess it against the importance assessment criteria listed - Importance scale before assessment. If an expert opinion is required, please post in our talk page. When you cannot decide of the importance of am article, it is wisest to give importance as "low".
While the quality rating across subprojects remains the same, the importance across the sub projects can be different. Ex. Guruvayoor as a place may be of high importance to Kerala sub-project, but may be of low-importance to India project and mid-importance to WikiProject Hinduism.

There are subprojects within a main project (ex. Kerala is part ofIndia) and tagging to relevant subprojects would be highly appreciated.
Each article in the list should be assessed for class and importance with the necessary parameters like history, geography, state project etc - Detailed documentation is available for the Wikiproject India template is available here.
An article is always a brain child of an editor(s)- considering it, try to be kind to the editors in explaining the review ratings if requested. Some of the editors may request reassessment, so keep the talk page in your watchlist.
A given article may be part of many wiki projects - while participants are not expected to locate and tag an article against each project, some of the common ones like Biography or companies would be greatly helpful for those projects as well.
