Issue

[edit]

Why does the Medicine Wikiproject have five welcome templates? Consolidation needed:

  • Welcome messages (all of these substituted onto a user's talk page):

General

  • Let's keep MedWelcome (i.e. template no. 3 please) and delete the rest. I forced myself to choose and there you go. Not sure how others feel... Lesion (talk) 17:33, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Generally, I hope we end up with three different levels of welcome:
    • A brand new editor who needs a LOT of help, not only guided towards MED guidelines and pages, but also more and more detailed general info.
    • We noticed an established editor who needs more info about medical editing specifically.
    • New signups to WPMED are greeted by the Project.

  • I don't have a problem with having a dozen, actually. MedWelcome is used by Twinkle. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:57, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Have to disagree with both of you... let's keep one and get it to a good standard. The 3 tiers of welcome described by SG above are not really necessary and could be carried out by the same general template imo. If MedWelcome is enabled on TW, and if people knew this it might get used more. Lesion (talk) 10:47, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you could put a mock-up proposal on the talk page of this RFC? (Maybe WPMED has gone so moribund that no one cares ... ) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:52, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
