Welcome to FAC

[edit]

Hi 750h+ and thank you for your nomination to FAC. You have probably worked most of these out by now, but a few pointers on the process and how to get the best from it:

What to expect

  • As a first time nominator at FAC, the nominated article will need to pass a source-to-text integrity spot check and a review for over-close paraphrasing in addition to all of the usual requirements.
  • You should be aware that every aspect of the article will be rigorously examined, including the standard of prose; breadth, standard and formatting of sources; image licencing; and adherence to the Manual of Style.

Dealing with reviewers

  • Try to deal with comments in a timely and constructive fashion.
  • Remember that reviewers are constructively giving their opinion on the article.
  • Keep calm when dealing with criticism of any aspect of the article.
  • Don't take the criticism personally: reviewers are examining the article – not you!

How to get the best from the process

  • Reviewing the work of others is a good way to get a grasp of the process from the other side.
  • Reviewing other FACs also increases the likelihood that others will review your nomination – although remember there is no quid pro quo at FAC.

Good luck with your nomination.

I've no idea, nor the inclination to care, where you came from; but yes
congratulations on recognizing canvassing when you see it. ——Serial Number 54129 22:56, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to have an axe to grind. You complained that he was canvasing - possibly you thought he was attempting to get FAC status unfairly. Yet by posting on the automobile talk page he was inviting any and all people interested - including people who might be picky and make him do more work. This is not a voting situation, so even just one picky auditor is enough to keep things honest. Hence, canvasing is both pointless to try and pointless to accuse of.  Stepho  talk  23:17, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, SN54129. I'm not trying to get anyone’s support, it’s really just I’d like them to participate, as in a normal FAC. Also, me saying that "It'll need quite a lot of supports" does not mean I want a support from them. From my knowledge, a first featured article nomination will need more than three supports (if I'm correct). But even so, I apologise if I did anything to break the policy.  750h+ | Talk  23:50, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It does not mean I want a support from them. Excellent. Then please go back and demand that, having changed your mind, they oppose your nomination instead. Happy days. ——Serial Number 54129 10:50, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
SN54129, I appreciate your support. But WP is a collaborative platform where all editors should feel comfortable asking questions or seeking assistance with articles. I'm sorry if my requests were "non-neutral", but I never knew that was a rule for talk page messages. When I mentioned, "It does not mean I want support from them," I didn't intend to imply that I wanted opposition either. I was not trying to get anyone to support; simply asking someone if they could contribute to the nomination, and leaving a bit of background information (In this case, the fact this is my first nom) is not canvasing. They can oppose if they wish. Let's say this page page was not FA worthy in the slightest, but I requested a review, and stated that it was my first nomination. They would rightfully oppose.
