Get a horse!
[edit]Vital Direct will be as successful as Mars Direct...
Okay, actually, I did just get Mariner 2 up to a B and plan on getting it to at least GA, and it's a Level 5 vital. So that's something. :) --Neopeius (talk) 22:46, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Move
[edit]@CactiStaccingCrane:, I'm assuming you saw my redesign of WP:PVITAL. Would you mind if this is moved to Wikipedia:WikiProject Vital Articles/Vital Direct? The essay is very relevant to the project and I think this would be beneficial. Also, could we add the Wikipedia:WikiProject Vital Articles/tabs template I just created to this page? — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 01:48, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think so. It's better to keep it as something you would come across at the See Also section. Also, I'm currently redesigning the tabs to be more like Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/Nav bar, which uses MediaWiki buttons:

- @CactiStaccingCrane: Sure, I can remove it from the tabs; what's wrong with the current tabs though? — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 01:51, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- I think that the design is too elaborate and can cause problems to mobile users. Using these buttons would ensure the design language is constant and professional. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 01:53, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- It's the template ({{start tab}}) that a bunch of wikiprojects use, see WP:GOCE or WP:WPAFC. WikiProjects in general are not very readable on mobile so I don't think it's something we should prioritize. In response to this, personally I don't like it since it takes away emphasis from the tabs (making them very small) and removes the colour bit. I would hate to see my tabs reverted since I thought they looked quite nice, but you can keep it reverted if you'd like. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 01:59, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- See Category:WikiProject tab header templates for other wikiprojects that use the template. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 02:03, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- The old buttons are far easier to navigate on the mobile app than the buttons. I can send screenshots if necessary. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 02:27, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- See Category:WikiProject tab header templates for other wikiprojects that use the template. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 02:03, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

Wiki99
[edit]I am trying to organize a related project, meta:Wiki99. The goal there is to list 99 "vital articles" (a different list), but instead of being important for general reference, the 99 articles are important for subject matter reference.
One example of such a list is meta:Wiki99/LGBT+
I am presenting this concept at https://wikiconference.org/wiki/Submissions:2022/Wiki99_and_the_global_canon
meta:module:Wiki99 is not the best fit for 1000 vital articles because the table would be too big and take too long to load, but if broken or when tech gets better, it would give insight into vital articles + languages.
On the Wiki99 side we need better curation of subject matter specific content. I see ~5 LGBT+ oriented articles in the 1000 vital ones, so there will not always be a match between general interest and specific interest. If anyone can think of an obvious domain for overlap between Wiki99 and Vital articles then let me know and I will try to present it. Bluerasberry (talk) 21:23, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
