You just created a WP:SELFREDIRECT. It will be deleted (by any admin, not me) soon, if it doesn't gets expanded to a full fledged article. Solomon7968 11:03, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's been sorted out, I have just created the article and removed the redirect.--jojo@nthony (talk) 17:24, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I just linked the two pages via Wikidata. @Tachs, In future please consider to do it by following the "Edit links" option in the bottom-left of any page. The IP who created the page Special:Contributions/93.205.111.198, started quite a few Indian ambassadors page there. I wonder why they didn't started this pages here in enWP. Unlike deWP IPs are not allowed to create articles here. It might be worth checking if the IP started this article here in WP:AFC and it subsequently got deleted. Requested article

[edit]

I have provided the link of this page on Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Requested articles.Shyamsunder (talk) 20:55, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tachs, says on his talk page that "I expect my project to run for another three months, when I should be able to complete all reasonably referenceable names on Padma list". It would probably have been wise to add the link in 2016. I don't want (multiple) people to duplicate efforts. Please don't take my comments as disencouragement though. Template

[edit]

@Human3015 who mentioned this page at WT:INB, thank you. Can you also check the feasibility of creating a dedicated Padma Shri template? It will make the maintenance trouble lot easier, say, in case of unintended circumstances like changing of the URL of the government website (and the like).

I posted on more detail regarding this on the talk page of Tachs. Solomon7968 04:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Solomon7968: Thanks to you and Tachs for creating such wonderful project, coincidently just since one week I entered in this arena and created 5-6 biographies of Padma awardees and I was also thinking to create such kind of project. If you are asking to create template on Padma Shri award winners then it may not be feasible because there are more than 2500+ Padma Shri winners. But we can create state wise templates. --Human3015TALK  04:40, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I assumed my intended meaning would be clear to you. I posted the same message to Tachs and he get it. I am proposing a Padma Shri reference template, on the model of, say, {{MacTutor}}. Solomon7968 08:04, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Human3015, Please let me know if you can do it. Solomon7968 21:40, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, actually I'm seeing {{MacTutor}} kind of thing first time, I don't know how such templates work. As far as links related Padma shree awards are concerned there is only India.gov link which only gives names of Padma shree awardees and no more info. We don't find info related to biographies of these person on particular 3-5 sites or books, there are very random sites for each person. --Human3015TALK  21:56, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, no worries. I thought a template to reference the single fact that the subject got a Padma Award is a good way to maintain consistency for this project. But I believe that there are other gov websites except the link you gave above. I downloaded a PDF file a while ago but can't locate it right now. Solomon7968 22:25, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The list was at http://www.mha.nic.in/pdfs/PadmaAwards1954-2007.pdf. Also check https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=Padma+Awards+Directory+%281954%E2%80%932007%29&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go : the articles which referenced the file! I wonder when the link you gave above will suffer a similar fate. Solomon7968 22:34, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you have pdf files regarding biographies of these people then kindly provide the link because many of these people does not have any info on internet. For example Padma Vibhushan awardee Bhola Nath Jha (the award just next to Bharat Ratna) does not have any info on net. Bindeshwari Prasad Verma, a Padma Bhushan awardee, after huge search I was able to write just 2 line on him that too have just trivial mention of him. So this project is tough task. Though for other some biographies I found enough sources and even nominated it for DYKs. --Human3015TALK  22:43, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No I downloaded the file named "Padma Awards Directory (1954–2007)" (see links above) but it has gone unavailable now. I proposed the Padma template to you just to avoid this sort of mess. For each Padma awardee we have at least one reference (I prefer in templated format but can live without it for now). The other references should go as usual in non-templated format.
If you are in trouble finding sources for any awardee my advice would be to leave it and proceed to next to the queue. The least we can do is prevent any future biographer/journalist to prevent using Wikipedia as a source, see WP:CIRCULAR. Solomon7968 22:56, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And @Human3015 The Bhola Nath Jha you mentioned above is/was (not sure which one applies) a civil servant. There is some information on him in Kuldip Nayar's autobiography. Try Google Books. Solomon7968 09:12, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
