See also sections[edit]

I think this is a great idea! Project members might consider adding a link to this contest in "see also" sections for individual Wiki Takes... pages. For example, see Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes America/Portland/2013 and Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes America/2013/Vancouver, Washington. It is related to the Wiki Takes America campaign, and it might drive more traffic to this page. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification request: Scavenger hunt[edit]

I'm mapping out sites that I can hit for the scavenger hunt. It looks like one of the more difficult ones will be #4, "a multi-family residence". The example offered is an apartment building, which seems fairly unambiguous. But what about other kinds of living arrangments for multiple unrelated individuals? I'm thinking about things like prisons, dormitories, convents, nursing homes, and the like, where the residents wouldn't generally be regarded as "families". Could this be clarified, please? Thanks. Good idea Smallbones(smalltalk) 15:56, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How about hotels for #4? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 11:20, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
why not. Smallbones(smalltalk) 12:12, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I now see hotels are explicitly listed under the entertainment one, so I will move it there. I think it makes sense to have hotels in only one of the categories, thanks anyway. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:26, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Would a National Guard armory work as a government building? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:04, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I could consider it to be a government building. Royalbroil 11:51, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unusuals[edit]

Are multiple submissions allowed in contests 4 and 5 (unusual listing and unusual building)? Magic♪piano 19:45, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I think the two challenges work best if they weren't split up. I started this one in the last photo contest, and I left the description vague so as to let people be creative with what could be considered unusual. Niagara Don't give up the ship 02:43, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, multiple submissions are allowed for both categories. Royalbroil 06:25, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification request re: State Traveler, Interstate Traveler[edit]

Are the distances in these two challenges to be calculated by road mileage or straight-line mileage? — Ipoellet (talk) 00:22, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Both are using road mileage. It's the shortest distance calculated by google maps. It will be hard to beat Alaska to New York! Royalbroil 02:46, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar to award[edit]

Should we have a unique barnstar for all of the winners in this contest? Royalbroil 03:30, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge 12[edit]

On challenge 12, I could probably find users who took pictures for the states not already listed. Maybe we could get a winner for each state! And there's gotta be someone out there who could score for than my 4 for New York :-) Should I give it a shot? If so, we could just notify the user that they're eligible, or I could update the page on their behalf. Faolin42 (talk) 20:02, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Probably too much trouble to figure this out, but here's my first stab at users that might be state leaders in states not already mentioned in the Challenge 12 list. Faolin42 (talk) 22:44, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
